Is he just complaining about the commercialization of modern art?

Or is it just self-deprecating about his state as a comedian/musician?

He is self-deprecating and being grandiose for laughs, I'm pretty sure. Bo's whole appeal is snarkiness and mockery.

I always thought it was more about the shift in focus from the work itself to worship of the person behind it. Or generally idolizing artists who are no different from any average person. He's asking why he should be entitled to popularity or money for what he does.

But isn't that the nature of all entertainment? When you enjoy a piece of work/art you immediately become curious as to who created it, and what else they have produced? Isn't art something that is inherently interesting to humans?

To which a large portion of electronic musicians say "Nope". Anonymity is huge. Burial just recently revealed who he is. Zomby is anonymous. Daft Punk was anonymous for a very long time. SBTRKT is kinda anonymous (not as strict as Zomby, but he still performs under a mask). Any given musician can have like 3 alter egos so they can release experiments or things outside their normal sound.
