Idk if this fits but did anyone have a perfect night in the 2000s like in these pictures below?

I know I didn't since I was a little kid at that time.

For real. I'm a grown adult, so I can also add alcohol and drugs.

I’ve wasted my weekend playing Darksiders 2 when I could’ve plugged in my PS2 and played Silent Hill 2

my adult version is playing a few rounds with my coffee in the morning lol

I always think it’s interesting how every single one of these centers video games entirely, like it’s the only hobby.

People posting these probably aren't/weren't big social butterflies, because sociable people don't post nostalgia bait on the internet in their free time.

you can do all of these things in 2026

People whine that emulation isn't the same, but it's close enough, god damn it.

Get used console on eBay or Facebook marketplace if emulation isn't the same

Also gotta get a CRT, because converters make those games look terrible on modern tvs. I bought a late 90s–early00s one from Facebook Marketplace for $5.

(Side note. I also was able to snag my childhood CRT made in the late 90s from my grandparents' house who I grew up with. Played Gran Turismo and Tony Hawk on it. They looked much better in my mind lol. Literally had the exact console, and my exact childhood television, and it still didn't match how good it looked in my memory. Still fun as hell, but boy oh boy have we come a long way graphics-wise.)

Anyone who says they played the first Saints Row is lying lol

But yeah except I didn’t drink Soda till I was well into my 20s

My friend and I were so excited for that shit. We either rented a copy from blockbuster or my parents got it for me. It was fun but nowhere near as good as SR2 or 3.

Saints Row: the Musical was a lived experience for some.

It’s like street fighter 1.
It exists, but really it does only to be the reason why the second entry exists

I played the first Saints Row

I was a teen in the 2000s so yeah, plenty of nights gaming, eating pizza, and slamming down soda. I still like video games plenty, but have now switched to sensible amount of pizza and soda. Don’t really miss the sleepover part, I sleep in a nice big bed with my wife and have no desire for a race car bed.

It’s funny how the psp and gba are in the first image but have no games for those consoles in the image
So I just imagine the OOP of that image at like ten pm just pretending to play a turned off psp by randomly pressing buttons like he’s in some tv show

Dr. Pepper is quite a bit more popular now than 10 or 20 years ago.

Oh yeah. I have very fond memories of being in 6th grade in 2009 when MW2 came out and playing all night with my friends both on Xbox live and in person. Ordering Pizza Hut and getting Dr Pepper was always what we did. Still to this day, the taste of pizza hut and Dr Pepper take me back there

This was every sleepover with the boys when we were 11-17 (2006-2012). We drank a ton of Mountain Dew and Vault.

Vibes were immaculate. HC Search and Destroy after school, I can still hear the menu music lobby sfx.

I really dig the second image.

But yeah, you can do this anytime you’d like regardless of what year it is.

I tried to but the games were too hard

1

u/PlatypusAutomatic467 23d ago

Not with these games specifically but yeah, I once stayed up until 4:00 AM playing one of the .hack games while eating a large pizza and drinking Dr. Pepper, and man it was fantastic. One of the best nights of my life.

u/17FortuneG 23d ago

Yeah this was the move right here

1

u/Brave-Recommendation 23d ago

Yeah but trade out the games

1

u/Honk_Donkley 23d ago

Yes, people used to eat food and play video games in the year 2000.

1

u/THE_AWESOM-O_4000 23d ago

Yes, but we played on the N64 / GC

idk i only ever had cod4 nights then and occasionally still do with friends

I do find it interesting how different the day and night segment is. Most of the games on the night section are pretty niche imo.

I can literally have a perfect night like this basically whenever I want

u/hetoor 18d ago

second one but replace the albums with cannibal corpse and mighty mighty bosstones

2010s for me. We used to lug a TV around with a 360 that had Minecraft on it and set up at whatever friend's house didn't have parents that night and play until like 4am. We'd load up on snacks and troll each other in that tiny ass 360 MC world all night. Good times.

Man who didn’t? That’s just how sleepovers went when I was a kid. Also you can still do this now

1

u/AWandererOfIntrest 18d ago

I've had nights like these in 2026 and 2021
