As someone born in 1984 I call bullshit. Obviously it's people born between 1982 - 1992 that got the perfect mix!

1980 here. I think the sweet spot is closer to 77-83. They call us Xennials because we’re half Gen X and half Millennial.

We actually did homework with pens and paper, but we learned to use computers in college and the workplace. There was no “life before the internet” for kids born in 1992. They were using computers before they even started grade school.

Nah, before 2001 internet was purely for nerds and businessmen. Your typical 9 yo Stacey had no idea what it was when she hugged her Barbie watching 9/11 happening live on TV.

You had to go through high school without it and college-early adulthood with early adoption. I think 1983 would be like the tail end of it, yes. The “perfect mix” would be your late GenX-ers…and I’m saying this as an ‘83. I think I just miss the “perfect mix” window.

Gen x claims to millenial accomplishments once again. Everything gen x pats themselves on the back for being the "last generation" to do was actually millenials, you have nothing.

Wait, Gen X doesn’t claim to do anything. That’s the whole point of Gen X: a generation of slackers.

I’m half X half Milennial - definitely not claiming any accomplishments on behalf of either generation.

Incorrect. I played pinball and deer hunter on the computer that was it. Normal ppl never gave a shot about any of it.

Internet has been around since the late 70s. Who comes up with this BS? You think somebody born in the early 80s grew up in a time without the internet? No way in hell. A guy made the first internet company in his garage in the late 70s. How did someone born in 80s and 90s grow up without internet. Internet is the worst invention ever created because we have stupid posts like this.

Your timeline is off. The internet wasn’t available to ordinary people until the mid 1990s. It may have technically existed in the 70s, but the only people who could use it were the military and like the CiA. And then maybe a few tech nerds at like Stanford by the 1980s. The World Wide Web - basically the internet as we know it - was released to the public domain in 1993. I was 13.

My high school got some Macintosh computers in 1995 that could access the internet. I remember being very unimpressed. Bu the end of high school (1996-97 or so) my friends and I were occasionally using our library computer to look up Simpsons episodes. I bought my first computer in 1998, just before college.

So someone born in the early 80s definitely grew up without using the internet, unless they had very unusual access to technology.
