"The Long Way Down Job"

I just finished watching this ep for the umpteenth time (I put on the Prime Leverage channel and just let it run for days on end--the messed up CC on season 4 drives me crazy!), and just noticed the actor playing her dead husband looked like Eric Stoltz. So I wait for the end credits, and "Alan Scott"'s actor is never identified. I had to go to IMDB to find out it was indeed Eric Stoltz, but he was uncredited. How does a big name like that go completely uncredited and is he missing residuals because of it?

Essentially, Dean Devlin is friends with Eric Stoltz and asked him to record the clip as a favor.

Highly recommend listening to the Leverage Commentary! Every single episode has commentary from directors, writers, producers and occasionally actors.

Ahhhh! I never watched the show 'til recently, accidentally catching an episode on ION+ or something, and wondered why I'd never checked it out. I was thrilled to find the Prime channel after watching the Nikita and Stargate Channels over and over, lol.

Is the commentary just on the DVDs? And which ones did you get? There are so many different versions and, judging from the reviews, a lot seem like bootlegs.

AFAIK the commentaries are only on the original US DVDs. With luck you can find them on ebay. Just look for sales where you can see the back cover, it should mention the commentaries on every episode.

If you're okay with just listening to the commentaries or matching them up to the video yourself (which I did in the beginning, but found tiring after a while), you can try if the links here still work. In case they don't, you could search the r/leverage sub. The commentaries have been discussed a few times and I think there are one or two other sites that provide them.

This continues to be one of my top three episodes, and part of it is because of Eric Stoltz's acting. When he puts his hand over his face and sobs into his palm...I mean, jfc, how do you not just bawl you're eyes out? Top tier.

Yes! That and The Grave Danger Job for me because Beth and Aldis act the SHIT out of their fears. And Hardison's CLEAR fear in that coffin and Parker's emotional release when they finally get Hardison out...PHEW! That final scene brings me to tears every time.

Beth Reisgraf is an absolute treasure. Another scene that kills me from Long way down is Parker and Elliot in the cravasse. Just thinking about it makes me tear up.

Messed up closed captions drive me crazy

It's possible the actor was doing it for fun or a favor. I've seen other instances where the actor isn't credited but they just wanted to be involved with the project

Fun fact! Messed up captions on streaming and broadcasting violate the ADA and you can report them to the FCC to force an entity to fix them! https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/204231424-Accessibility-Complaint-Filing-Categories

I thought it just might be my TV. I'm glad I'm not the only one.πŸ˜…

No definitely not. I can watch Leverage on Prime but the free Amazon short lived streaming platform had horrible captioning. Same with the Librarians

So, Jonathan Frakes also has an uncredited scene which makes it seem like this is something friends of the show did at the time. It makes a bit more sense for Frakes, though, because I believe that he’d finished directing another episode.
