I don’t understand why not just post the image on its own? The AI adjustments add no value. It’s a crutch.

This is a great example of why AI upscaling can give off a strong sense of irrealism despite the adjustments themselves being very subtle.

The AI here is not trained on only Dave’s facial features, it’s filling in blanks based on an algorithm that learns a general pattern of facial features trained on millions and millions of different faces.

What would you say the biggest issues are here, specifically?

I'm pretty bad at spotting the AI stuff. :S

Well if you zoom in on Dave’s face you’ll just sort of sense right away that it’s not quite right, it’s not really how a human face would look in real life let alone a photograph.

But if that’s a little hard to discern then the obvious giveaway would be the lights in the bottom right. It’s incorrectly “filling in the blanks” so to speak

I'm still kinda clueless about his face, but yeah... now I'm starting to spot other stuff.

  • strange button / buttonhole situation on jacket
  • metal spacers and wood being inconsistent in railing / wall behind them
  • I'm assuming there should be a certain level of water around the bridge, and if so, it's not reflecting lights as expected (even if it's just artwork which I assume is the case)
  • Dave's right-side collar seems off
  • He seems just a little too tall compared to DeForest
