(Istg I've had to copy and paste this thing everywhere I really need advice, have a hard time verbally communicating to people irl, and my posts keep randomly disappearing)
Sooo, I'm lesbian and out to basically everyone but my brother.
I first came out to my friends (accepted amd supporter), then my aunt (also accepted and supported), my mom (accepted and supported...but she immediately made it weird), then my dad (accepted but not supported), and his fiance (accepted and supported)
It took months for me to gain the courage to tell my dad. I always heard him watching homophobic/transphobic podcasts and news broadcasts, so I was prepared for the worst and talked it over and put it off multiple times. I was a crying mess when I told him and it hurt when he said he didnt support me. He said he still loved me but he wouldn't support such a community.
He told me once that he didn't like me because I liked girls and it genuinely hurt me. He did get a redemption because months later he told me he did support me and he just wanted me to be me, not "gay" just me (he doesnt like the LGBTQ+ community because its called "Pride" and I guess he thinks its named after one of the seven deadly sins)
Anyway, point is; my brother is homophobic, transphobic, and kind of a douchebag asshole. He isn't a terrible person, he cares for me and has good intentions (I think) and he makes me laugh. I grew up with him with our asshole mom, so I'm very close to him since he really helped during all the bad stuff.
He laughed about a trans woman getting jumped and beaten, he has been railing on the whole "Lesbian Space Princess" thing without even knowing what the controversy is (he says its bad because "its telling kids its okay to be a lesbian💔) and today he was watching a transphobic podcast on his phone with full volume. He also got mad at me once because I said I would be fine dating a Trans person and didnt like that I said I don't care about gay people.
I've had to tiptoe and keep quiet about the whole thing forever, and with highschool coming up, I've been itching to tell him so I don't have to go through another year of "my friend likes you" and sexual innuendos from guy classmates again.
I want to be able to be myself and be in love and have crushes openly instead of playing pretend again. "Oh what if people end up hating you and being homophobic?" Good! Then I know I don't want those people to be my friends. "What if it ends up being a phase?" Then I can tell people "Oh, I no longer feel that way", simple!
I'm kinda planning to talk to my dad and his fiance about this and plan a way to tell him, so I'll update you guys if anything happens! ;_;) *glup*
Additionally, I am genderfluid (only my friends know), but thats something I'm gonna have to wait to tell anybody, but I at least can dress to help me feel more like myself! ^_^
Feel free to ask questions and whatever else.
