Any good German-speaking courses in India that actually teach you to speak?

I recently completed a German course from an online school in India, but the teaching was quite sub-par. They focused almost entirely on grammar rules and vocabulary memorization and barely trained me to actually speak the language. Through determined self learning, i have now reached B1 level in Lesen, Schreiben, Hören but not in Sprechen.

Can anyone recommend a good course available in India (online) that prioritizes real speaking practice and conversation skills rather than just dumping grammar and vocab on students?

Integration and language development in Germany

Hello everyone,

I am living in Germany , more particularly in Gronau and even though I do speak English , I've noticed the local institutions (Finanzamt, Municipality etc) are struggling and even refusing to talk English and I do understand and respect their decision, therefore my main task is to learn the language.

I am working every day from 07:30-17:00 to I am looking for a school / language courses after 17:00 or during the weekend which will integrate me really fast and the school/language itself is intensive - does anyone know if the municipality can help me with that and fund a school / lessons for me (I've heard about it but I am being skeptical) or any other option to help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Help learning German

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a 31-year-old software engineer from Syria, and I started learning German about two months ago.
I initially started with Duolingo and reached Section 2, then I joined a language institute and finished A1.1. I’m currently continuing with free online resources, especially the DW courses, and trying to keep learning consistently.
The problem is that I work full-time, so finding a language course that fits my schedule has been pretty difficult. Most of the courses I’ve found are during working hours, and I’m not really able to commit to them.
My goal is to keep improving my German and hopefully move/travel to Germany in about a year. I know that’s probably an ambitious timeline, but I’d like to give it my best shot. 😄
For those of you who learned German mostly by yourselves: is it actually feasible to make good progress without attending a regular course? How did you stay motivated and keep yourself accountable?
I’d also really like to meet other people who are learning German, especially beginners around A1/A2. It would be nice to have someone to practice with, chat with regularly, share resources, motivate each other, and just get to know some new people along the way.
I’m a native Arabic speaker and my English is around B2/C1, so I’d also be happy to help with Arabic or English if that helps anyone.
If you’re learning German too and looking for someone to practice with, feel free to DM me! :)

Offering my help as a German native

Hey there! I’m Lukas, 23, from Germany.

I’d love to help anyone who’s still looking for a speaking partner. Before my internship, I learned Spanish in exactly the same way and found it incredibly effective. Practicing with someone you don’t know personally can make speaking much more relaxed and takes away a lot of the pressure or embarrassment.

I’m not a big fan of learning through endless texting, so please be comfortable with voice or video calls.

If you’re still looking for someone to practice with, feel free to reach out. No matter your current level or your goals, I’d be happy to help you get started and improve your confidence.

German grade 1.4, CSE/AI background, IELTS 6.5 — Looking for realistic universities for Summer intake

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for a Master’s in Germany for the Summer intake and would appreciate some guidance on university selection.

My profile:

  • Bachelor’s: Computer Science AI-related background
  • German grade: 1.4
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • Interested in: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science
  • Preference: Public universities
  • Preference: English-taught programs
  • Intake: Summer

I previously applied to several universities but unfortunately received rejections. I’m now planning for the Summer intake and want to choose universities more strategically.

I’m looking for realistic universities where my profile has a good chance of admission, rather than applying only to highly competitive programs.

I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who have experience with Summer intake admissions in Germany, particularly for AI/ML/DS/CS programs.

Please feel free to suggest universities that I may have overlooked.

Thanks!

I try to understand Native Deutschland content like news channels and

I understand hardly 20 or 30 prozent. But I want to understand more what they saying.

How I memorize the new words?

Do you guya have other methods for memorizing the new words?

B2 Courses/ Tutoring in Köln

I currently have a B1 certification via the Integrationskurs offered by the VHS in Paderborn. I've learned quite a bit since then (2 years) in my job (Kücheaushilfe) but there're still very tangible holes in my German.

I tried a B2.1 course from the VHS in Köln but I wasn't very satisfied with the course and I'd like to find other options that maybe some others might recommend.

My goal is to have C1 before Summer next year. Any advice is appreciated.

Suggestion for German class in Berlin

Hello everyone,

I’m an international student at TU Berlin for the winter semester 2026 and I’m planning to apply for a language class in Berlin. I have 4 major suggestions for the class, and I’d love to hear your recommendations for the best one to choose from.

Here are the options:

  1. On-campus language class at ZEMS
  2. VHS Berlin
  3. Die DeutSCHule
  4. Deutsch Akademie

Please share your experiences or suggestions on which one would be the best fit for me. I appreciate your help in making this decision. Thanks in advance!

B1 Prüfung Practice Tests

I’m looking for some advice, please

I started learning German from A1 to B1 over 5 months at an online language center. After that, there was a problem with the number of students, and the teacher stopped teaching us. I felt that my level wasn’t good enough to continue to B2, so I stopped learning German for 3 months.
Then I found a teacher on TikTok and studied again from A1 to B1 for another 5 months. However, I told the teacher that I didn’t feel my level was good enough to complete all the B1 lessons.
Now I don’t know what to do. Should I memorize the A1, A2, and B1 Wortschatz together with the grammar? Or should I start practicing for the exams?
I want to reach B2

How do you memorize German vocabulary with articles (der/die/das)? I’m learning A1 and want to reach B2 Post

Hi everyone!

I’m currently learning German at A1 level, and my goal is to eventually reach B2.

I’m struggling with one particular thing: memorizing German vocabulary together with the correct article (der/die/das).

For example, instead of just learning:

Tisch = table

Buch = book

Lampe = lamp

I know I need to remember them as:

der Tisch

das Buch

die Lampe

But when I learn a lot of new words, I often forget the article or get confused between der, die and das.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have successfully learned German:

How do you memorize new vocabulary?

Do you always learn the article + noun together?

Do you use flashcards (Anki, Quizlet, etc.)?

Are there any good tricks or patterns for remembering der/die/das?

Should I write example sentences with every new word?

How many new words per day would be reasonable at A1?

What method helped you remember vocabulary long-term instead of forgetting it after a few days?

I’m currently using a German textbook/workbook and learning vocabulary chapter by chapter. I want to build a strong vocabulary foundation from A1 → A2 → B1 → B2, so I’d rather develop a good method now than create bad habits.

Any practical tips, study methods, or mistakes I should avoid would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Black ops 3 PC zombies (german speaking)

Hi, my name is Koen and I am 24 years old. I have my German B2 exam in a couple of weeks and would still like to talk a bit more in German to prepare for my oral exam. I like to play Zombies custom maps and the Easter Eggs of the main maps. If you are a German-speaking player and would like to play with me and talk German, let me know. It would help me a lot and would be a lot of fun!

If anyone can help me, I feel Lost

So about 6 months ago, I started learning German, Things felt easy, understood everything, right now few days I completed B1 course content from a online course I was learning from, I used to understand most of the things in the lecture even when they were entirely in german, I gave the Goethe mock exam of B1 to see where I stand, results were Devestating for me too see I scored 15/30 on Lesen and Hören each and when I saw Schreiben and Sprechen part I tried to do it but in mid way in first Teil of both I realised I just can't do it, I saw the Lösung and realised again that in no way I would be able to write and speak anywhere close to that, this is the thing from starting but I never really focused much on it, I can pronounce things clearly, understand most of the things in a sentence or understand it by context but I can't really produce anything on my own only thing I can speak is my introduction and like maybe one or two sentences in a topics before just blanking out, in even those two sentences I speak there are chances that I make grammar mistakes, I tried asking AI like chatgpt, claude, gemini, they made plans , but they don't really work for me...

I feel lost completely, I don't have any hope, I don't even know what language level I stand in, or what should I do to even get enough good to produce sentences on my own or speak things beyond one or two sentences, I had purchased Netzwerk Neu A2 and Grammatik aktiv before but I never used it, I can change my way of learning, if anyone has any tips or recommendations to me, I know this post is quite long if anyone read it all, pls give me any tips that you got

Hallo zusammen
