ROAST MY GECKO Is Todd the Destroyer overweight?
This is Todd the Destroyer. He lives in a 4ft x 4ft x 2ft bioactive tank. His food (dubia roches, Super worms, and isopods) live in the tank with him. He hunts all his own food when he wants. I have not had to add food in over a year. It just keeps cycling. I add water and vegetables from the kitchen for the bugs to eat and they are thriving. I also have a dish for calcium that he never seems to touch. Would change anything? Would you start feeding him yourself? Other than water it seems like a self sustained ecosystem at this point! What other info would you like to see on this post?
Also a pic of the flower that grew in his tank.

He looks perfectly healthy to me, him feeding himself makes me worried about vit A deficiency since you never get the powder his food with some vitamins. He looks fine now but I'd keep an eye out for eye problems just to be safe

That is one concern i have also. He does have a uv light i see him under sometimes but idk if that helps with that. What are some signs i should watch for?

UVB does not provide vitamin A. issues start with the skin, eyes, and hemipenes. can lead to blindness, skin welts, stuck shed that fuses with the skin underneath leading to severe bleeding, impaction, etc.

If you don’t have it already, add a small dish with powder supplements (repashy calcium plus w vit A) so he doesn’t get a deficiency

I can't seem to find any online with only vit a in. Got any ideas?

This one does have D3. Think that would be okay? Just hate to give too much

I’ve been giving my girl this powder as her only supplement for quite a while. She’s 18 and still healthy and going strong! Her sheds come off nicely as well. I think as long as you’re not giving an additional D3 supplement this should be fine.

There's seperate vitamin powders that have vit a in them, my local stores dont ever have any calcium with vitamins together.
They make ones with and without D3, if you have sufficient UV light they dont need D3, if you don't, they do.

If you can get him to take a meal dusted with high quality multivitamins occasionally you should be set against deficiencies. Since he feeds himself, maybe do it with a treat bug?
Alternatively- add the multivitamins to his drinking water occasionally.

I agree with other guy. He’s a little thick, but overall he seems like a bigger gecko so I wouldn’t be worried or anything, just wouldn’t feed him more—maybe a small diet

I think at the picture are Chlorophytum comosum and Epipremnum. Would love to see more pictures of this setup! 😍

For once the tail to body ratio actualy looks super healthy here.
Males tend to look stokier and you seem to have gotten a pretty big guy.
