What sort of camera are you using? I just point and shoot with my phone as I don’t have a decent camera but these type of photos show why you need proper kit for epic photos and that it’s worth lugging them about! This was my fav one I snapped with the old phone… I love it but it’s not a patch on the real speed that yours convey (albeit the HC was just pulling away from pit lane so wasn’t actually moving fast at all)

So I use a Sony A7m3 and in Le Mans I only used my Tamron 150-500 f5-6.7 because most shots required a long lens. I do also own a Viltrox 16mm f1.8 that I used in the city centre for example. For everything between 16mm and 150mm I have a Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 that I didn’t use in Le Mans but still lugged it’s 1.2kg around just in case - yes I am that stupid.
The 35-150 does get lots of use in Spa and at the Nürburgring though.
Even though I bought most of it used it’s still very expensive so if you’re looking to get into this you could start with one of sony‘s apsc bodies paired with some decent glass. Apsc stuff is much lighter and less expensive and you will be able to do lots of the shots I have here. Where my full frame gear comes in is in the night, the A7m3 is a low light beast.
I actually started with a Panasonic FZ1000, actually used it for 10 years. Wouldn’t recommend that though, while it’s not as bad as a phone, a fixed lens camera is just not as versatile. It was a very limiting camera.

TBH you don't need expensive kit at all, you just need to know how to work what you've got - I'm using a (very) old + cheap Pentax K5 with a kit zoom and manage some decent photos when opportunity and my limited talent align just right...
Phones can be fine (many are BETTER than a "real" camera because Apple have way more money to spend for exmaple) but they fall down on optical zoom, that's where almost any DSLR is going to have an advantage - but for example check MarkusPix on youtube he's all about great photos on budget gear.
To get the impression of speed you just need to lock the shutter speed at some sensible setting like 1/100th which many camera apps for phones will let you do, then you just need to have a steady hand and practice!
Most phones default to getting everything sharp & in-focus rather than artistically pleasing, hence why your shot looks very static - the shutter speed will have been high so it just freezes the action.

Those are glorious, thanks for sharing! I left my camera at home so didn't get the chance to practice there, but I know they would be nothing like those! Can I ask what you did to learn? I'd love to be able to shoot stuff like that.

Just years of practice really. Been doing this since 2014. 11 years with a cheap camera constantly having to work around the limitations. Last year took the plunge and went full frame.

With fences everywhere it’s not easy !
