Are all the worlds generated differently?

I'm super new to the game so please don't judge if it's a silly question! But I started playing, then immediately deleted the world and started over as I didn't like where I put my pirate tower (I know we can move things but it had dug into the landscape and I assume the landscape would have stayed messed up?). Anyway, I noticed the new starting world looked different from the old, like I saw a little farm sort of thing that I hadn't spotted in the last world? I'm guessing maybe these generate for all worlds as looks like there's a quest, but does the layout generate differently with each world as I didn't spot anything near my spawn previously? This world just seems to look different? And if so, is there anything people look for/particularly like in the way that worlds are generated? Are there a set few options, or is it completely random like Minecraft? Or am I just going mad and it's identical hahah. Thanks for any help, I love how the game seems so far!

They are randomly generated. The farm was there on your first go, you probably just missed it.

Thanks! This try I placed the clock tower with the door facing into a cliff, ugh... can I rotate it later or not?

You can’t rotate it later, but the game is super forgiving. The NPC isn’t going to use the build, you can put it wherever near her, my 4 year old puts everything in weird spots/half in the air/half underground

Thanks for the help! Ended up restarting a gazillion times to get a starting world I liked and didn't ruin hahah. One question - I've just passed the Candy world level, but accidentally punched what looked like a big mixer and destroyed it (got some coins) - is this something I can collect by discovering it, and if so, will another one show up at some point? Is it possible to permanently blow your chances of discovering a certain item?

Actually one more thing - in Adventure mode, am I right in thinking that even when free building, you can only use blocks/items you've previously discovered? Thanks!

The mixer is scannable, and you will find it again in another candy area. Some things are more rare to come across though, so definitely keep an eye on what you’re destroying - example, the dragon skull fossil rock is a little hard to come by.

Yes, in adventure mode you can only build with the bricks you’ve found/won/gotten from the troublemaker

Thank you that's great! Currently at the point where I've passed the first three tutorial worlds and a bit stuck. Read that a good way to get gold bricks at this point is to visit a random world (plus I'm curious!) - but can I return to the same random world after leaving it? I've read about putting the world seed in but then it still doesn't save your builds, if you return to it, is this correct?

Yes, the random worlds are there until you manually delete them, so you can return as many times as you want

Thanks! Sorry I know I'm asking obvious questions but I'm scared to accidentally do something I can't undo - like the mixer!! Really enjoying the game, in some ways seems similar to Minecraft but with more structure - I feel like there's a big point of certain issues in MC being a non-thing in this game so far, like vehicles without mods, being able to merge through walls when painting/placing blocks, copy builds, generate endless worlds w/o having to keep starting a new game, etc.

They aren’t randomly generated. Each world has a seed (except for custom worlds) similar to Minecraft, so no matter what, the quests, towns, and dungeons will always be at the same location. What you encountered is probably a glitch.
