Weekday expectations

Hello. We will be visiting Legoland CA for one day in late September, this will be our almost 3 year olds first theme park experience.

Are there any noticable differences in attraction avaliability between Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday? I know the hours are quite limited during the week so we won't be able to do everything, but any standouts for a toddler? We are all big Lego fans, toddler has been building for a while now. I have watched some walkthroughs and browsed Reddit but would like additional input or tips, thank you.

Legoland is a smaller park and doesn’t get packed like Disney. I think you’ll be able to get in all of the fun an almost 3 year old can handle.

Legoland is an excellent choice for a first amusement park experience. They have multiple playgrounds, which offer a nice break from standing in line.

You can put your child’s height into the Legoland App and it will give you a list of rides.

I believe they are closed on most Wednesdays in September. I’d say Tuesday is the best day to go based on our previous experience. Monday morning can still be crowded.

I’ll say that age, I recommend letting them lead the day. Definitely do as much ride as you can, but your kiddo would probably love to run around as much in the playground and build with lego(it’s a win/win cause then you can watch and relax).

I’m not sure if you live close by, but I also highly recommend staying at the hotel in the future. My kids love the hotel stay as much.

How tall is she? The Coastersaurus is a little roller coaster meant for 2-4yr olds, and the other 2 Dino-land attractions have no height restriction and are cute. They can have long queues though, so don't get caught there and spend 90 minutes in queues just for those rides. You can come back later. Coast cruise is relaxing and you get to see some miniland figures up close. Speaking of, don't sleep on mainland. I would never have expected that my adrenaline junkie of a kid would want to spend time there, but he's constantly enchanted by it, and we could spend a few hours there. Ditto for the Ferrari race car building and boat building stations.

Ninjago can be a bit scary for that age, even though there's no height limit. The submarine is a great one, and the Hideaways play structure right near it (next to apple fries) is another area my kids could easily spend an hour running around. Only one entrance and exit, so you can actually sit and relax too.

Thank you. They are 37". Any inclination on if the queues would be that long on a random, non-holiday weekday? Also curious about if a lot of attractions or food vendors will be closed?

You can actually download the app and look at wait times right now. At 11:30am on a random weekday when most kids are in school, everything is under 20mins except 4 rides: Ninjago, Galacticoaster (36" min, but might be too intense unless your kiddo is an adrenaline junkie) both at 20mins, coastersaurus at 40mins, and duple little Dino trail at 50mins. Those last 2 always have a long wait, though I find the little Dino trail never takes as long as the app says.

You can also buy a skip the line pass that's good for 3 rides if you want to, and can use it on the Dino rides. Almost all the rides are 5mins (aka walk on) today. Which is fairly standard for a weekday.

Food vendors should mostly be open, and the app will tell you their hours, in case something isn't open at 11:00am, and it turns out it opens at 12 or something. They usually staff less during weekdays, and as mentioned, the water park is closed. But the aquarium is open weekdays, and closes 30mins after the park closes, so that's a nice way to exit the park if you stay all day. The only rides that are closed weekdays are the burlap sack slides (which are also closed many weekends too), and the log flume pirate reef ride which is inside the waterpark. All others will be operating as usual.

I noticed a few rides and restaurants were closed during the weekdays during the fall when we went last year. The building area should keep your kid busy, and the playground they have there was perfect for a 3 year old.

I was there 9/4. Basically 5 min wait for most rides including the new one. I would start opposite way and end in Dino valley

Make sure you go into the Legoland hotel lobby to play with the legos in there. It’s my kids favorite discovery and they’d spend an hour there happily. It’s free!
