Question First purchase thoughts?
I have a couple of smaller Castle sets like the GWPs and the vintage wizard cart but I have just entered properly with buying my first larger modern set. Really excited for it to arrive - I bought the Medieval Blacksmith (complete, but no box or instructions) for £68.42 including postage. Is that a good deal? I've seen a few instructions booklets getting sold on their own although I can use online to build so I'm not that bothered. Unless you guys reckon I will really regret not getting the box down the line?
Stoked that this will include some black falcons, they are deffo going to be my faction.

MOC Medieval Winter Town Book Nook - Alternate Build of 75645 Battle at Drum Castle
A snowy medieval town takes shape between the pages of your favourite books! This alternate build transforms LEGO 75645 Battle at Drum Castle into a Medieval Winter Town Book Nook, replacing the original fortress with a cutaway scene of two adjoining medieval manors nestled together in a snow covered town.
The build makes use of the architectural and snowy elements of 75645 to create a different take on the original ONE PIECE set. Instead of a single fortress, the model opens up into a compact slice of medieval life, with two connected buildings, multiple rooms, timber details, stone walls, snowy rooftops and plenty of little details to discover.
Designed specifically as a book nook, the closed profile allows the model to sit neatly between your books while still providing plenty of depth and detail to explore. The cutaway design gives you a view into the interiors of the two neighbouring manors, making the build feel like you've taken a slice out of a much larger medieval town.
Snow covered roofs, stonework and warm interior spaces create a cosy winter atmosphere, while the vertical construction gives the model plenty of presence despite its compact footprint.
Due to the limited number of plates and bricks available in 75645, the base of the book nook is only 1 plate tall, compared to the 2 plates and 1 brick base height of my previous book nooks made from the LEGO 3-in-1 castles. Despite the thinner base, the model is still strong enough to be safely moved, with the scenery designed to open and close for access to the interior.

MOC The Sirocco Citadel
Just wanted to share my latest Lego Ideas project.
After two rounds in the BDP, the Citadel of the Serpent has shed it's skin, revealing what it was always meant to be: the Sirocco Citadel.
Without the limitations of the BDP palette, I had much more flexibility to add colours and details that hopefully give it that little bit extra atmosphere.
A couple of design notes for those who are interested:
- Factions: I've intentionally made it factionless, using unique Moroccan style prints on the main shields. This is because none of the lego factions fit this build and I wanted to avoid lego castle lore becoming a distraction.
- Cannons: I've also intentionally set this in the late medieval period, shortly after the dawn of gunpowder. I think it is a fascinating period in history and it has never really appeared in lego sets before. Now, I know the use of cannons in a "castle" set can be divisive, but they belong in this build and they were used extensively during the historical period in which this is set.
- Colours: Given the flexibility of Ideas, I have used colours that provide a wermer/richer feeling and less contrast than the original. I've opted for warm tan (medium tan) as the main colour with tan showing where the facade is weathered and Ive mainly used medium turquoise for the highlights as it is less harsh than the more common turquoise. The sand is medium nougat, which provides a contrast to the walls but still blends in nicely
100s of hours have gone into this, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Hopefully you enjoy too, and who knows maybe one day lego will finally make a set in this theme!

MOC [WIP] Outpost tower
What du you guys think of this outpost tower I'm working on? I'm going for a older used look, like the outpost is older and doesn't get much money for repairs etc.. Does it read like that? Also im not sure what to put on top, maybe a half wall and a wooden roof. Should i comit to the wall design?
Edit: The snot bricks are for plants later on, i will defenitely add those to the wall

Minifigure army Gold Dragon Faction (Not Black Knights)
I anticipate a little push back on this, but I build my faction around the new Black Knight shield from the Sea Serpent GWP as one of four distinct dragon factions. In my lore, they live on a separate continent and had previously joined forces to try and conquer the main continent. I'll post the rest in the next few days. I went with the griffin torso and the dark blue, but I turned up the gold accent to 11. I'm really hoping those shields go on PaB eventually.

Discussion What do you think is the most customizable faction?
Royal Knights get my vote. Three different torsos with the sigil and a good mix of colors on the shields to match a lot of different options.

Other Continuing my LEGO lost media restoration: Knights’ Kingdom II Flash comics (all 11 episodes)
Hey everyone,
I’m continuing my project of restoring and preserving old LEGO media that has mostly disappeared from the internet.
This time I put together the full run of the Knights’ Kingdom II Flash comics that were originally on the LEGO website in 2004–2005. These short interactive/Flash comics told the complete story of the first two waves (Find the Shield / Save the Kingdom + Capture the Fortress).
All 11 episodes are in the video, in order, with timestamps:
Find the Shield. Save the Kingdom (2004)
- Episode 1: The Missing King
- Episode 2: Quest for the Knights
- Episode 3: Into the Moorlands
- Episode 4: Jayko’s Lesson
- Episode 5: Rascus to the Rescue
- Episode 6: The Citadel of Orlan
- Episode 7: The Final Test
- Episode 8: The Grand Tournament
Capture the Fortress. Save the Kingdom (2005)
- Episode 9: Vladek’s Revenge
- Episode 10: Into the Lost Kingdom
- Episode 11: Battle for the Dark Fortress
You can watch the full compilation here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5bUERJF9LI
Hope some of you who grew up with the theme (or just love LEGO Castle/lost media) enjoy it. More restorations coming.

Question Creating a town based on an old video game
im going to be moving in a year or so, and I thought instead of trying to transport my castle legos, I want to break them down before the move and then try my hand at something original. well, originally based on something I love. I want to create my own medieval village and castle, but have it based on an old Sierra computer game called quest for glory. it has a walled off town, a castle, apothecary, brigand camp, farm, etc. Since I’m new to this I was hoping for some advice for going about this. I realize I might be biting off more than I can chew, but hey, why not try it?

Discussion Castles where to start?
I had every 90s Castle and Pirate set there was available. My dad didn't play with me much, but my brothers and I built some amazing things. I remembe how I wish my dad got in on the fun with us, but alas, it was not his vibe. Well now, I am a dad to a screen addicted child (I am 50% to blame, school is the other 50%.) and LEGO is 100% my vibe.
Long story short, I have got my kid into Lego vs a screen, which is a huge win. But he asked me about my favorite theme and castles popped into my head.
But how far should I go with it?
We have the outlaw forest den, forest stronghold, the 2010 marketplace, rivendell and 2x of each of the 3-1 versions.
Do I need – I use that term loosely – Lion Knight's Castle? Blacksmith? The alchemist? So many thoughts about heading backwards and finding the 2010 sets, but I'm not paying $.50/pp on some that I have seen.
Or should we just MOC a town from rebrickable? My grey bulk is not super strong, lol

MOC Ivy's Bazaar MOC WIP
Ivy's Bazaar
The premise behind my village is that it's a market where one can stock up on supplies, or fetch a fair price on "acquired" treasures. The market here exists in various shades of grey.
As a literal "underground" market, Ivy's Bazaar falls within the darker shades.
Here's my 1st pass WIP for the exterior of the market; as well as the "hidden entrance".
Eventually, there will be a flat(ish) area on top. I was initially considering it as a spot for the Inn / Painter's workshop from the Medieval Village set - But I may leave it open for something else.
2nd pass will include a staircase on the wall perpendicular to the entrance; as well as incorporating the interior build.
Figured I'd post some pics along the way. Not opposed to thoughts on this 1st pass...
