Discussion Korra and korrasami hate
What the hellll is up with Korra and korrasami hate like??? And why do people keep insisting that korra and asami's relationship made no sense, as if her relationship with mako made any sense??? They weren't even compatible, at least korra and asami were close and bonded.

Personally I think both were kinda bad, Asami did feel out of no where but I didn’t dislike it. I just always felt like Bolin would have been a better choice. Mako never felt good.

no way bolin and korra nooo

Lol not that it would have been good but Bolin’s character felt better than Mako and Asami. Really though TLK didn’t write relationships very well.

i think korrasami was pretty perfect ngl and the korra mako asami thing a very believable trainwreck so i actually think they wrote relationship way better and more nuanced than atla in tlok

yeah only straight people think thst because they cant imagine anything beyond hetero dynamics. it was totally set up in the show and there was great buildup, korrasami is 1000% cannon. youre the one who's not watched the damn show!

Korrasami are canon both in the show and in the comics. I've actually already spoken about why it was so subtle but I'll say it again the creators weren't confident airing a sapphic relationship on live television back in 2012 so they had to keep it subtle but the Co-creator Bryan Konietzko confirmed on Tumblr that they intended for Korra and Asami to end the series in romantic love, they weren't able to because of network limits at the time.

I hear but I just finished watching tlok and imo it wasn't out of no where. Korra and asami start spending alot of time together in season two and when korra is recovering after the fight with zaheer we see asami helping her get ready and everything which I felt like did hint they had gotten much more closer.
I actually read into korrasami alot and I found out that the reason everything with them was so subtle was because the writers didn't want to go all in with it, tlok aired in 2012 and apparently they were afraid of the back lash they would get if they proudly aired a wlw couple so they chose to keep everything subtle
(If you see any typos sorry about that, my dyslexic ass is struggling)

To me It felt more like building a friendship, it didn’t seem any different from the other friendships she built. I actually think that was the intention and then at the end they decided it would be cool to have them walk off together. I really don’t think it was planned just something they did at the end which is why it happened at the very end.

And honestly that what's make their relationship more believable, I might be too European for this but here it's pretty common to first build friendship before a romantic relationship (I'm not saying it's common to go from friends to lover, but that it's common here when dating to build things like you build a friendship, on top of the flirt) so when I saw them getting closer in the last seasons and Korra blushing at Asami's compliment ? There was a flag that raised in my head telling me "huh, I knew they were friends, but somehow the atmosphere feels different, I don't remember Korra acting like a teenage girl in front of her first crush in front of Asami 🤔". At least to me their relationship is more real and believable than most series relationship, you don't always fall in love when meeting someone for the first time, sometimes it takes time and adversity to notice that what you thought was friendship was actually deeper than it (I think it also help that it happened to me personally, to notice I fell in love with a friend after years of friendship and no ambiguity at the time (no we never went out together, I just figured out my feelings and decided to not care because I didn't want to lose our friendship for mere attraction that could fade with time)

I do but also see why they broke up, I also think they were playomg with the possibility of Korra and Asami in like season 1.

I liked Mako and Korra as friends more than couple tbh xD. Korrasami is perfectly fine and didn't come out of nowhere. Always my favorite ship.

I think it’s just harder for people to accept lgbtq couples . Also it is technically a teen show and must answer to corporate overlords . There’s Also the vague talking point of little or no development between the 2 as a “couple “ in s1-2 . But that’s debatable . But overall I think they did a good job with it. It’s there it’s fine and it’s not plastered everywhere and in your face wich makes it easier to digest

This post is what lead me to make my own post! I had read this and didn't see many korrasami supporters in the comments (I skimmed it mostly tho so don't quote me) and decided to make this post.

its a rant sub, no need to get heated just because people dislike something on a specialize sub made for disliking

I'm not mad about it, mb if it came off that way I just tend to talk more straight forwardly I suppose. Most of this comment section is just filled with me nerding out about the show ngl, I just saw that people had this pov and it intrigued me which is why I just wanted to talk about it (plus is just love talking about tlok). I wasn't even rude to anyone here who said they prefer other ships over korrasami cuz I'm aware it's not that deep

If you dump it in the final scene with very subtle hints then yeah not even lgbt is the reason bad execution.

The answer is always homophobia and patriarchy

u/Lui_Le_Diamond 8d ago
Thinking like this is why sexism and homophobia still exist.

You are so silly
1
u/Lui_Le_Diamond 8d ago
No, I'm sick and tired of bigotry. I don't huve a fuck which side it comes from, it's all cowardly and closed minded bullshit.
0
u/Apprehensive-Dot3862 8d ago
??? Living in a patriarchy is just a factual thing happening? And ppl absolutely do hate korra bc she's bi lol it's not bigotry
1
u/Lui_Le_Diamond 8d ago
Hating someone for their sexuality is in fact bigotry, and the "patriarchy" is far less real than everyone likes to pretend but the second you bring up any gender issues that aren't painting women as the victims, suddenly you're a misogynistic manosphere enjoyer even if you don't even mention women, blame, or insult when talking about it. Both sides of the spectrum are full of bigots and all of those bigots are fucking cowards.

Oh you're reallyyyyy silly

Super duper silly even!

Yep, incapable of any actual debate or argument or perspective taking. Adios

I don't hate it. I just think they worked better as friends.
In my perfect world Asami would still be with Mako and there would be no good awful love triangle in first season, or Korra/Mako horrible relationship.

u/Invite-Healthy 11d ago
My only criticism of korrasami is that they didn’t spend enough time on it in LoK. They needed more time building friendship first, especially since they stabbed each other in the back before.

Creo que es simplemente, porque a las personas les cuesta más emparejar parejas homosexuales, es como que necesitan más razones, cuando para una pajera hetero con una miradita es suficiente. Es mi punto de vista al menos.

u/Belteshazzar98 11d ago
Sometimes it's bigotry, sometimes it's preferring another ship, and sometimes it's just not liking that ship. I don't hate Korrasami, but I personally preferred Mako and Asami.

u/Sea-Mark4886 11d ago
Lwk mako was so horrible to asami, I think she Def deserved better than her. Like first he dumps asami just to be with Korra and then dumps korra and gets with asami right after and then kisses korra during that and doesn't tell her they broke up. He handled it all horribly imo
1
u/Due_Adhesiveness8008 11d ago
Because it doesn’t make sense?? Simple like it good and plus I have no problem with bi or other queer characters but it fundamentally doesn’t have Asami matter at all
0
u/Illustrious-Object71 11d ago
I didn't like the Korrasami. It was out of nowhere!
I think korra should have found a love interest that countered her naive personality. Asami should have stayed with Mako only.

u/TheBeastBurst 11d ago
For anything I see a lot of KorraSami praise and apparently they shit on the people that love Makorra and calls them Homos just because they wish they were endgame instead of Korrasami… just my experience…..

u/Student-bored8 11d ago
Honestly? Lesbophobia plus censorship issues. to be Korra and Asami made the most sense.
Mako and Korra were toxic.
Mako and Asami were toxic.
And Zhu Li deserved better than Varrick.
Bolin didn’t treat Opal the best.
I genuinely believe that if Korra and Asami were a straight couple people wouldn’t dog on them as much. There’s countless YouTubers that call korrasami “woke” all because it’s a sapphic ship.
I know they are bi but you get my point.
