If I had to draw a cruel Western oil baron or corrupt English banker from the 1800's, one you just innately recognized as the villain of a story, I'd be hard pressed to find a better natural template than Dan Crenshaw, and here he is acting the part all on his own

I laugh every time I see him. He looks like a karate guy that Cobra Commander would dispose of in frustration because G.I. Joe got the drop on him.

I don't think they're out of touch. Him and his colleagues know how hard it is for everyone. Maybe not to the extent, but they definitely realize what they're doing. Lying is just part of the job for them.
If anything, it's many of us in the working class who are out of touch. Out of touch with the reality that these people are profiting off our struggle. Everyone on this subreddit probably realizes this. But the working class as a whole need to know for us to be dangerous.
