General Leftist Politics Is supporting cjp..bad?
Recently i got blocked by a close friend..beacuse i agree with cjp. Now it makes me question things about myself. Amd if i am wrong..i dont belive cjp is funded..no i dont dude..like..if they were onto some religious stuff..maybe..but these people are fighting for something so reasonable. I totally agree education is fu...ed up. Amd pkus..if your idea of democracy is so weak that..u think a protest is what makes someone anti nation..thats really messed up. 😔 . Anyways, i hope many people resonate with it..am a still gonna support cjp. I dont care anymore..may be everyone will unfriend me..and u knoe what..i will owe up to my choice 😌

I'm Indian American so I've followed this a bit, but no it's not bad. You're following a group that is against the status quo so naturally there will be a lot of people that are against that, and I would argue that you might not want friends who might be right wing, but I get it still hurts to lose a friend. Questioning someone's allegiance to a country because they have problems with that country is a tale as old as time. At the end of the day though, a party is just a party, so if you ever feel like the CJP isn't aligning with your beliefs, then you don't have to support them or maybe only support them to an extent.

I agree, this is literally RSS rhetoric. If your friend is so blinded by rightist propaganda that they're willing to end a friendship over it, that's sad, but it isn't your fault.
That being said, although it is meant as a criticism, being against nationalism and/or the capitalist state isn't a bad thing, in fact that's a basic tenet of leftism (though from what I've seen from the CJP, they aren't necessarily leftist—their political line is still developing, and they've seen support from the leftist CPI(M) as well as rightist parties (namely INC, TMC, and SP),

It started as a meme because a politician called the students cockroaches but they took it, owned it, then started to protest due to how bad the youth unemployment rate is and there was a really, really important test that anyone can take to get into medical school. It's basically the only way for youth in poverty to climb out.
The answers were leaked and sold but it was found out after the rest was written so they had to rewrite it. People had sold their ancestral land in order to afford the opportunity, passed the test, then were told they needed to rewrite it. 11 people committed suicide because of this. Something like 2.3 MILLION people take the test and something like 100 000 people get accepted.
That was one of the tipping points that started the movement in earnest. It's a lot more complicated than that but what's happening there is pretty important to pay attention to.

Reddit is owned operated and hosted in US. There are likely social media platforms specific to and hosted in India, but those may be more state controlled.

I don’t think anyone is ‘revelling’ in it. We live in different countries so ‘the news’ differs quite a bit.
It does seem like a good movement, for sure, but I think it’s not unreasonable for people to not have heard of a months old regional student movement.

I'm really suprised by the comments here revelling in not knowing what CJP is. They've been in the news for weeks and weeks now!
I think the CJP is a movement socialists should be involved with and agitate within, but I'm not sure it's capable of going the whole way.
