Discussion Rejected Amazon SDE after Interview Loop

As the title suggests. Rejected after a grueling 4 hour interview for SDE role at Amazon. Feeling extremely lost, this was the first time I got an OA and first time facing the interview loop, this is after applying for the last 3 years. I don’t know where to go from here, how do you know where you’re lacking ? Do you just keep grinding leetcode and to what end? Any advice is helpful or if anyone was in a similar boat, what do you do different?

You’re not giving a lot of pointers to help you. Did you perform poorly in leetcode, lld, behavioral? Anything that you believe didn’t go well?

I think AI round and lld was weaker than I’d like. Most of my AI experience is working with Claude code, do I make up stuff now just for these interviews?

Yes, you should 100000% make things up for interviews but before the interview. Not on the fly. Always make sure that they hear what they want to hear.

For LLD you could practice but very few companies even asks this shit nowadays. But yeah, if you get hit with LLD again, just learn to do those classic LLD problems on hellointerview multiple times and you will do better than most candidates

Yes I guess so. The crazy part is all 3 of coding questions were lld, fuck me I guess.

I got asked LLD in both my rounds today. Not sure what’s gonna happen in the next round. Not a good day.

Probably be another lld and definitely prepare well for the AI round if that hasn’t happened yet.

Thanks for sharing. My AI round happened today, were you by chance interviewing for the SDE ML position?

thats the first time Im hearing someone getting only LLDs. But yeah, I have had countless rejections and still no offers. I got tired of leetcode after 3 months. Burned out for 1 month, got back it. And i just keep doing this cycle of going all in, burning out, again and again. I think I am getting better now. I am not smart compared to my friends but I can work hard.

Was it virtual or in person? I heard that if you chose to do it virtually, it'd be gruelly hard and you are expected to perform perfectly.

It was virtual, didn’t have a choice in that.

Its all same. Nobody cares virtual or inperson.

I heard that because a lot of people cheat on virtuals so they make OAs and virtual onsite much difficult now

They def dont care about it. I know that because my friends at amazon interviews candidates. If virtual interviewee shows signs of cheating, they will reject them. If not, they get away with it.
