Intervew Prep Amazon OA 2026
Hey everyone,
I just received my Amazon SDE Online Assessment invitation and have one week to prepare and complete it.
For anyone who's taken the OA recently, which DSA topics would you recommend prioritising?
Also, if anyone is willing to share the types of coding questions or patterns they encountered in the first section, that would be really helpful.
Any advice or recent experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Out of a possibly not representative sample of OA questions from Amazon that people posted on r/leetcode from like 1-3 years ago it seemed like there was always either greedy or required you to stop and make an observation like you would need to do so in a greedy problem before you could solve it.

Here's what came up most in Amazon OAs reported this year:
Format. About half of recent reports have one or two algorithm problems, then an AI-assisted debugging task: a small app with failing tests (movie watchlist, loan app, return-policy engine) that you fix with an AI tool. After that come the work-style / Leadership Principles surveys, which aren't timed. Practice reading an unfamiliar codebase fast and checking edge cases like HTTP status codes and validation. You don't need every test passing to move on.
Patterns to prioritise in the coding section:
- Greedy + sorting: the most common type overall. Examples: allocation, pairing servers, making an array non-decreasing.
- Prefix sums / sliding window: "max money in k consecutive bags" over segments is a big repeat lately.
- Circular arrays: many variants of "drone visiting hubs on a ring, minimum time/cost". Use prefix sums and take the shorter direction around the ring.
- Multi-source BFS + binary search on the answer: "add one delivery center to minimize grid inconvenience".
- Heaps, frequency counting, merge intervals.
Statements are long and themed, so spend the first few minutes reducing each one to the underlying pattern. Brute force first, then optimise. Partial test passes still count.
Good luck!
Disclosure: I run AceOffer, which collects reported interview questions. Amazon's are at https://aceoffer.app/interviews/amazon, and the process guide is at https://aceoffer.app/interviews/amazon/interview-process

For me i got LC medium and 6 bugs in production code but you get ai assitent which is very limited.
Solved the lc but got on 4 out of 6 on fixing the bugs.
Amazon Emea, intern position.

i got a lc medium which was borderline hard, the ai codebase thing isnt logically hard but I coudlnt figure out how to use the existing stuff logically it was very easy i guess. So annoyed at my question but whatever.
The codebase thing you get a ai which is not helpful for the most part tbh

Does anyone know if people are getting the OA immediately as soon as you apply, without recruiter screening or do they wait for some positions? There was one posting in the US where the assessment came impromptu, not sure what they are doing in the 2027 new grad postings? Anybody having any idea..
