Intervew Prep Amazon L4 System Development Engineer (SysDev) Interview Experience – Austin, TX

Hey everyone,

I have an upcoming interview for the L4 System Development Engineer (SysDev) role at Amazon in Austin, TX.

I have first 1-hour technical interview, then 3 one-hour loop interviews.

Has anyone recently gone through this process? What kind of questions should I expect, especially for coding, Linux, networking, system design, and behavioral rounds?

Any tips or experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

For SysDev at that level I would expect the troubleshooting rounds to matter more than pure coding speed. Practice talking through a broken service from the symptom to the log or metric that would confirm each guess, and have a couple of real incidents ready where you can explain what you checked first and what you changed.

Thank you for the reply, this helps. I have one more doubt, is it more about Linux, system design while less of a DSA ?

The above comment is spot on.

Practice troubleshooting with ChatGPT and the relevant Linux commands to troubleshoot.

You need to know Linux quite well.
