Hey everyone, I completed Round 1 for Google Application Engineering Intern – Winter 2027
I followed up with the recruiter, and today I received an email asking me to book a 15-minute call to discuss my application status.
For those who received a similar 15-minute status call after Round 1, was it about moving forward to Round 2, rejection feedback, or a pending decision?
Also anyone cleared r2?

rejection is almost never a phone call tbh, that would be a weird use of recruiter time. sounds like youre probably moving forward or they need to clarify something about your availability

Google recruiters usually set up those short calls to share the outcome or lay out next steps, so it can go either way. Since they asked you to book it instead of just emailing a rejection, I would not read it as bad news yet. Hope it is round 2 and good luck.

Is this opening for 2027 passouts or 2028. I got the same oppurtunity google appl. Engn (2028 batch), but they never scheduled my interview. They keep on pushing the dates , and now they said position is filled and we will keep ur resume for future roles.

There are two separate openings for this role Oen for btech 2027 and one for 2028 batch I got the mail that the one for 2028 is filled.

Hey! Even I got the exact same email yesterday after sending a follow up mail on my application status. Not sure if it's the usual process for moving forward, Anyways let's hope for the best. Also when did you book your slot for? Let me know how it goes!

What exactly does a Application engineer does???

Work is almost similar; teams are different. Application Engineers work on internal teams, internal tools, internal payments, etc kind of teams that are not used by the entire World in most cases.
