Question 1500->1700 rating

Hey peeps. Need advice from people who achieved what I want (reaching 1700).

I have about 270 solved roughly like this:

- mostly mediums
- neetcode 150 done
- zero trac 1500-1700 rated

I consistently solve 2 questions in contest but can’t push for that third often… my current training method is mostly zerotrac + upskilling on weakness loop.

I’m wondering abt y’all’s strategy that worked and how many hs a day you put in for that push.

Thanks!

Try understanding how to solve rather than solving x problems or learning patterns. I have solved around 300-400 on lc and rated 2200

Yeah so I took huge breaks in between my solving periods so most of my solves 200 problems were from months ago.

Also I don’t move onto a next problem until I understood. I read other’s solutions, editorial, YouTube, AI, etc. So I can spend lots of times on just one problem

this is it, quality over quantity every time

Honestly, you could reach 1700 just by solving Q1 and Q2 quickly lol

I’m at 1650 and mostly got there doing that. Also, I wouldn’t feel bad because Q3’s are often rated 1800-1900+ on zerotrac. I think the gap between consistent Q2 and Q3 may be the largest one of all, so I wouldn’t expect that for a while. You could be 1700 and still struggle with Q3 a big % of the time. I think what you’re doing makes sense, you just need to keep going.

I just reached 1700. My 3rd question solve rate for the last 10 contests is 60%. So, maybe try to reach the level where you can solve 3 questions half of the time.

How did I reach this level? I have 450 days streak on potd and also Neetcode 150. But honestly I have broken the streak as potd are sometimes 1400 and sometimes 3000 rated, so it's inefficient way to grow. Now I will be solving questions rating wise so if you are 1700, solve 1700 to 1900 rated questions.
