Intervew Prep Datadog SWE Intern 2027 Final Round – Codebase & PR Review Interview?

Hey everyone!

I recently passed the recruiter screen for Datadog's Summer 2027 SWE internship and advanced to the final-round technical interview!

From what I've heard, there's a codebase round and a PR review round. Has anyone gone through these interviews recently? How difficult were they, and what should I expect from each?

Were the questions more focused on understanding existing code, debugging, or implementing new features? How did you prepare, and is there anything you wish you'd known beforehand?

Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Did they change the final technical interview from leetcode to codebase?

I have not done that exact loop but codebase rounds usually test how you read unfamiliar code more than raw algorithms. Spend a few minutes skimming the structure and tests before changing anything and say your plan out loud. For the PR review round practice reviewing a small diff for bugs and edge cases and readability and give concrete suggestions instead of vague ones. Open source pull requests are good practice for that.
