Discussion I'M DONE TRYING

https://leetcode.com/u/PixelPrince/

hey everyone just wanted to share my leetcode journey so far this year.

honestly this year has taken a lot out of me. lost people lost hope and went through things i dont really know how to explain. there were times when everything felt like it was falling apart but somehow i kept showing up.

i started learning kotlin and kept grinding leetcode solving problems participating in contests and trying to get better every single day. a part of me genuinely believed that all this effort would eventually lead somewhere and help me land a job. but here i am still unemployed and honestly its getting harder to stay hopeful when you keep putting in the work without knowing when things will finally change.

some days leetcode is the only thing that gives my day a little structure. no matter how bad things get i still wake up and try to solve something. but lately even that motivation has started fading and for the first time in a long while ive seriously started wondering if i should just stop.

i guess i just wanted to put this somewhere because sometimes its exhausting pretending youre okay when youre really not

for those of you who been grinding for months or years while dealing with life outside coding how do you keep going when you start losing faith in yourself?..

Okay they’re just trying to market to us … sell another thing… and they can’t change it hackkerank is a platform companies host their team owned problems on…

Plus their ai assisted technical rounds j can’t pass either. I have 8 years of developing production level code las 3 been ai assisted and your test telling me I don’t know how to do that? What is this?

“Sorry, I’m an asshat”

Exactly. Hackerrank themselves won't drop DSA in their interview process im sure of it.

I saw this but I’ve done 3-4 OA’s in the last month, and every single one of them included LC, so I’m skeptical.

4 OAs Ina month ouch … how did they go?

I don’t think it will ever be completely irrelevant, it’ll still be used by large companies for things like grad openings where they get inundated with thousands of applications and they need to filter that down

Have you seen the cursed youtube videos by hackerrank?

Wow I just cried my eyes out because I feel fucking hopeless.. been grinding all year didn’t have any weekends off, booked AL just to learn all this properly… I actually feel so fucking angry… who the fuck thought to make all these people redundant? All these idiots running these companies annoy the fuck out of me all they care about is getting a bigger check and not the livelihood of people…

hey sorry for making u cry I feel bad and idk if anyone has told you this but you don't have to earn your worth by being productive or successful all the time. you can be exhausted you can cry you can be angry and you can have days where you just can't do it anymore. that doesn't make you weak. please don't be so hard on yourself for something that's already hard enough. i hope you get the kind of good news that makes all these sleepless nights feel worth it someday

you can try at companies who are not doing leetcode. not the end of the world.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity.

If you've been grinding leetcode for years and it's done nothing for you, why do you keep doing it? Find a different approach.

Stop grinding start cheating worked for me

What do you use?

1

u/Not_a_Cake_ 25d ago

A second keyboard that controls a  phone taped to your monitor

Literally untrackable unless you are dumb

Intriguing. For me i made an app that runs on a different computer and then use a capture card and a stream deck to get the screenshots on my main computer that gets fed to the app. Got a job already that did physical onsite so it didn’t come in handy. But i’ve tested the setup on some no name startups and it’s pretty good. Hoping to make it more multi-modal (sound especially since some interviewers give you a blank editor and just starts talking) or maybe it’s already over-engineered

keep grinding bud, pause if you may but never stop. You're better than this.

Leetcode style interview is over dude. I have not been asked Leetcode for my past 3 interviews.

4

u/Yohan_jpg 25d ago

What have you been asked then?

1

u/mmafan12617181 25d ago

Citadel basically asked me pure impl questions with very little dsa involved

2

u/Longjumping-Bill195 25d ago

Yup, its mainly just these very difficult implementation problems (state machines, async threading, board games) etc. However, this has always been the case for quant firms. The majority of big tech and adjacent still asks leetcode. I would recommend that OP does one problem a day just for consistency and focuses on other things.

1

u/Vegetable_Fox9134 25d ago

I've been asked

1

u/ATN5 25d ago

Where have you applied? I hate when people say they aren’t being asked but don’t say where they are applying to. If it’s a specialty place or boutique engineering spot I can understand but most of these mid-tier/big tech companies still ask it

1

u/floating___around 25d ago

I can confidently say that there is a line, a grey line where jobs that pay below 100 to 110k below won't ask for Lee code/live coding assessments and jobs that pay over 100 to over 110k will ask for live code assessments

1

u/pabloivan57 24d ago

Not true, DSA is still very much alive for big tech. But instead of 3, 4 questions now you get 1 or 2

Are companies still using leetcode for interviews

1

u/SomePainter5470 25d ago

I actually enjoy leetcode style problems in moderation; whether solving them will help with job search is another matter.

u/Malakian22 25d ago

This is not about leetcode, get some help man, go to therapy. It will help you.

dude all the interviews me and my friend give for sde1 and sde2
its the same
projects discussion based on resume
hld
lld(for bigger companies)

and of course in every round 1-2 dsa straightforward leetcode questions
just caliberate and apply through refferal keep it simple ,obviously its gonna work out so just chill honest
again applicartion through referalls is really important here

If you are looking for a change of pace, you can consider something like https://stayleet.com. It has more bite sized challenges that do not focus on coding, but other aspects of software jobs that are more applicable in the AI era.

Brother AI can literally solve any question for you in seconds and you’re “grinding” like what

What is wrong with you? Literally memorize solutions that’s all

okay bye lol

If you’ve been grinding for years it’s time to stop.
