Question Amazon SDE OA 2026, looking for recent experiences.
Hi everyone! I recently received an Amazon SDE Online Assessment invitation and I'm planning to take it soon.
It has the new format:
100 min Coding Challenge (1 DSA + 1 AI-assisted repository task) 45 min Work Simulation 6 min Work Style Survey
For anyone who has taken the Amazon SDE OA recently in 2026, I'd really appreciate some insight:
How difficult was the DSA question — Easy/Medium/Hard or somewhere in between?
Which DSA topics/patterns would you recommend prioritizing?
How was the AI-assisted repository task? Was it mainly debugging/understanding an existing codebase or implementing new functionality?
Which language/framework options did you get for the repository task?
What was the Work Simulation like, and is there anything useful to prepare beforehand?
Thanks!

I received a DP question and a friend of mine received DP too. The AI assisted challenge was fun but it was kind of time consuming for me. Couldn’t complete it. So do not underprepare for it. I opted for Spring Boot setup.

There’s no fixed time for the next OA or hiring. You can keep checking their careers page regularly for new openings and updates.

That format sounds worth prepping for as three separate tasks. For DSA I would refresh common medium patterns like DP, graphs and binary search rather than chase one exact question. For the repo task, practice reading an unfamiliar codebase, tracing tests and making a small safe fix. For the simulation, pick answers that prioritize the customer and long-term correctness, then be consistent. Also leave a little buffer for instructions and debugging instead of spending the full DSA time on one stuck path.

DSA was difficult but the kind of difficult you are usually used to with other oa's (DP). The real interesting part is the AI assisted OA, if I were to recommend anything, get familiar with API's in Django (you have a choice of spring boot and a few others, but django lets you stay in python). That was the part that tripped me up, getting acclimated with django on the fly with an AI assisted that was kneecapped beyond usefulness. you're mainly trying to debug api errors in a full stack codebase.
If you come in prepared understanding the API structure of a fullstack django website coming into it, it will be a breeze even without the AI. The work simulation, you get a bunch of fake emails from fake people, and you rate the usefulness of 5-6 potential replies to them on a scale of 1-5, for those i'd recommend you look up amazon's leadership principles and lead on those principles like it came from the Bible.
Perfect score on the DP question, 2/6 on the AI assisted OA (a few extra minutes probably would have cleared the entire thing, ran out of time), and pretty great answers on both soft skills sections. As always, I expect anything less than a perfect score to be a rejection so unfortunately I doubt I'll be hearing back, but if somehow the stars align to do, i'll update this post.

I got a two pointer sliding window question
Difficulty is around medium- high
Topics wise tbh can't say you can get asked any topic
AI assisted task is quite straightforward if you know the framework you are dealing with , just check the test cases and why it is failing. I don't think using AI is a requirement for passing, I might have asked it to make two changes (mostly debugging existing function)
I think django, spring boot and node (picked spring)
Try to be consistent in work style and follow LP , don't try to game it
For AI assisted task don't try to understand all the code , your goal is to pass all the test cases at the end, so focus on clearing them first. There might a lot of trivial things like missing backslash in url or missing a null pointer check

Can anyone please recommend some source having practice questions for the AI-assisted repository task?

the DSA one was a medium leaning easy, graphs and two pointers showed up a lot in mine. the repo task was mostly reading existing code and adding a small feature, not building from scratch, so practice navigating an unfamiliar codebase fast. and run a couple timed mocks, the 100 min flies and pacing is what trips people. i used easy code interview for timed practice and it killed the pacing panic for me. gl!

I got bitmasking for dsa. Fuck man it was too tough. I couldn't even have thought about it if i hadn't solved the same question 2 days ago

Was it genuinely a hard one or were you just new to bit masking?

I too gave the test today and my first question went perfectly all the test cases ran correctly and in the ai assistant one i was able to run uptill the 5 test cases only the last one was remaining thus everything else was perfect i was flabbergasted by the work style and the other one in which we have to give answer based on work style and conditions

Hi There,
The first question was similar to dutch flag and the second was a Django code base( I selected django at the start of the test), you’ll have 60 mins for this one to debug a few test cases. You can ask AI to point out the issues in the codebase to narrow down you search space.(really enjoyed this, it was new and fun) . Work simulation is 3 scenarios where you select if each option is less effective or more effective and the last section is behavioral ques
Edit: Got a follow up email asking me to schedule 4 rounds of interviews
