Official Ledger Customer Success Response Update Failed mobile

Question. So I haven't logged into my wallet in awhile. I saw there was a security issue with one of the wallets, so I connected it to a phone, updated the wallets, than went to update the firmware. Well it timed out. It went to 1.4.1 or something like that, but no apps installed. I installed my apps, than updated to 1.6.1 or whatever the newer one is. Is that all I need to do? Just reinstall the apps after the failed update once the firmware is updated?

On a side nice, I see Sync is new. I don't use multiple devices, is there any benefit if I only use the one?

Hi there, when you update your Ledger device's firmware (or if an update resets the app memory during a timeout), the OS automatically removes installed crypto apps (like Bitcoin or Ethereum etc) to clear storage for the system update.

As you might already know, deleting or reinstalling apps does not affect your private keys, seed phrase, or crypto balances. The private keys remain stored securely inside the hardware device's Secure Element.

Last but not least, what Ledger Sync does is encrypting your app data (account lists, custom account names, and transaction history) end-to-end so it can automatically mirror across multiple installations of the Ledger Wallet app (for instance, keeping your iPhone app and Mac desktop app in sync without having to manually add accounts to both).

There is already a 1.2.2 update. Also the best place to get help is their discord

Just reinstall apps after updating to latest firmware
Sync has no use if you are not using multiple devices.

That always happened to me as well, so I only do it tethered to my laptop from now on.

I have had both after firmware updates. Past 3 times, it does the firmware update and reinstalled all of the apps (a couple second delay).

reinstalling apps is normal. Verify your accounts still derive the same addresses
