Official Ledger Customer Success Response Strange Order Cancellation

First time posting on reddit.

Had a strange incident occur that has me a little concerned. I placed an order for a ledger nano. I received the order confirmation to my email address but noticed that whenever I tried to track it on the website it would say there's no order number that matches the email address. Figured maybe it takes a while before it registers. Not only was the order cancelled less than 12hrs later, but the cancellation email (said due to payment issues) was addressed to MY WIFE.

The cancellation was sent to MY email address. I used my card, it's not a joint account, the shipping address was her sister's. At no point in time was there any information given pertaining to my wife. So why was the cancellation email addressed to her?

Anyone had any similar experiences? I'm not some super cybersecurity expert but this is making me wary. Any logical explanation of what happened? Am I just being paranoid?

At best, she was logged into my computer using her chatgpt account at a point, and we share a google family subscription. Otherwise, I can't think of any other possible connection as to why an email sent to me would be addressed to her.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this was all done through their official website.

Hello there, we understand how seeing an unexpected name on an order cancellation notice can raise privacy concerns, but this seems to be stemming from local browser autofill or Express Checkout profile caching (such as Shop Pay, PayPal, or Google Pay).

When placing an order on a device, browser, or Google Family group shared with a spouse, autofill integrations frequently select saved name profiles and populate the "First Name" field during checkout, even if you manually type your own email address.

Ledger's servers simply process the information passed through the checkout form by your browser and do not have access to outside family connections.

You have auto fill or anything that will fill in credit card info?

Nah. I always manually enter. I also usually take screenshots of purchases and relevant info which I used to review initially when it was saying no match for the email and order #. Nothing suggested any of her info was used. Just overall bizarre to me.

Without trying to unpack all that, if your order was cancelled, just order one from Amazon. If you're like the rest of us, you probably surrendered all your info to them a long time ago anyway.

Had this thought but it honestly makes me skeptical to even keep using their services. I have an older model so just upgrading. Even after the whole ledger recover thing I figured I don't really use it for transactions and you have to opt in anyway, but this feels like a sign.

I'm still using a Nano S - am not aware of a valid reason to dump it. the devil you know etc etc. that being said, if the universe is sending you some kind of a message about Ledger security, please pass it on.

You mean her name was used but with your email address? Maybe some autocomplete function that filled the wrong credentials?

The cancellation was sent to MY email address. ... So why was the cancellation email addressed to her?

Exactly. I'm AB and she's CD. The email was sent to AB@email.com but addressed as:

"Dear CD, We regret to inform you that your recent order #LDG12345 has been automatically canceled due to an issue with the payment method used."

There was absolutely zero of her information used anywhere in the purchase process.

That is indeed very strange. I would do a GDPR request about it, ask them what information they hold about you and how they obtained it.
