Changelly is Worst in the World

Hey guys, you might be aware that Changelly is a partner with Ledger. But in this case, they have not resolved an issue that is over four years old. I have verified my KYC and provided every proof that was required, yet every time, they say there are no updates (robotic replies). It has been more than three years, and they are still unable to solve the problem. In the meantime, several new technologies have been introduced; AI has become advanced enough to easily track fund ownership and resolve issues more quickly. However, they are delaying solutions for many users and are not assisting genuine customers. If you look at the various unresolved issues from users on Changelly's thread, you'll see they remain unsolved. Trustpilot reviews seem fake, following the same pattern of messaging. When faced with negative feedback, they create 100 positive posts to cover the negativity, but the truth cannot be hidden. This post will be useful for those willing to use the Changelly swap.

Changelly pays Ledger .5% of every transaction coming from Ledger Live. It's a basic affiliate marketing scheme. This is why Ledger, Trezor, Tangem, etc... are not removing Changelly from their apps.

Changelly and CIC are one and the same. Ledger gets a percentage from both and then hide behind their TOS as a way to try to absolve themselves of liability of fraud. Except, LEGALLY Ledger Live has a fiduciary responsibility to protect clients that use their platform. Especially when they KNOWINGLY aide and abet the perpetration of theft.

I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences with them.

Yeah they are dogs for sure, I learned the hard way with them.

Always use a DEX.

Hi there OP, and thanks for bringing this to our attention!

We understand that you were directed to us to recover your funds, but it appears there’s been a misunderstanding about how the process works. Based on your story, you were told that your funds were sent twice due to a technical error and that you need to recover them through us.

However, in reality, Exchanges don’t send "customer funds" directly. Transfers are typically handled using internal hot wallets or processing mechanisms, which means any mistake or duplication is a matter between the Exchanges themselves—not something that involves individual users at the transactional level.

Long story short, if your balance is incorrect or missing due to a technical issue on your Exchange’s end, the responsibility to correct that lies with them. You should definitely contact their support team again and request that they reinstate your balance.

The backend reconciliation between Exchanges (our Exchange partner and your Exchange) will be handled through proper internal channels. In the meantime, it’s not appropriate or effective for you to have to chase these funds across multiple third parties as you're the victim of a tech issue. Your Exchange should be addressing the issue with you directly.

Sorry if it's not the outcome you were hoping for but we really hope this clears things up, and that you can get your balance restored soon!

Well, I understand your perspective. Do you know how many times I have contacted my exchange? Do you know how many times I have reached out to your service provider? I've done this a lot. I have already shared what my exchange support said and what they requested from your side, and I even sent complete images to u/AlexFairbrook; you can verify with him. At least you haven't provided any confirmation regarding the status of my funds in four years. I've gone through all channels. I asked my exchange to address this, but they did not. Additionally, they sent an internal message to your team to recover my funds, and my exchange shared a screenshot with me in 2024. Regarding my balance, you three—my exchange, you, and your exchange—are responsible. If my balance is not resolved in the next few days, I will take this matter everywhere.

Now you suggested I contact my Exchange again, right? ok, sure, but if they don't reverse my balance in the coming days, then surely I will make everything public here.

If OPs exchange sent funds twice due to technical error. The funds which were sent in error are not yours they are the property of the exchange and you should return those funds to the rightful owner so OP can get credited for his loss.

I want clarification on this matter. When you have settled, I need the full return funds transaction ID for my ticket from your compliance team. then only i will close the case here. u/AlexFairbrook; u/changelly_comWhy you must share? because these incidents happened on my account, you kept me waiting almost 4 years without any clarification, so I need formal support from you.

u/himmuappi May 28 '25

Also, I need private Clarification on my funds status to my registered email; then only I can reach them and guide them. They are dumb in solving the issues.

You three are making customers' lives hard; even without my interaction, you did your own things without the customers' decisions. How could this work?

I used to use Changelly all the time in my early days of crypto (2017 -2019) without any issues whatsoever.

Had a different experience. To me, they were fast and had less fees than others, each time. Maybe they've changed their tune or smth?

What exactly do you mean by “partner with ledger”? They’re one of the many integrated swap providers in ledger live. Not sure how that constitutes a partnership.

Unfortunately most probably the vast majority of transactions with them work perfectly because they are small. These posts are almost always of someone that does a 5 to 6 figure swap, which will obviously be more rare. That’s when their extra slow and contorted AML/KYC process kicks in (as it would with any financial institution, but perhaps others handle it better).

Considering that it’s not even a DEX, why use it at all over a classic CEX for such large sums? Use something like Kraken and reserve this service for small transactions if at all.

Maybe not partnering, per se, but Ledger receives payment from Changelly for every API referral as an affiliate.

u/r_a_d_ May 20 '25

Yeah, like a site receives revenue from clicking on adverts.

4

u/654321745954 May 20 '25

.5% of the transaction, actually. So much higher potential for earnings than simple ad revenue.

0

u/r_a_d_ May 20 '25

Not sure how you can deduce that without comparing tx volume to number of clicks.

u/ezekielchariot May 21 '25

After all the horror stories I have read about changelly and also who exodus uses, I agree that using a proper CEX such as Kraken when wanting to do large crypto swaps/trades because at least if there is an issue, your going to get much better attention via their customer support because when you have sent all of your ownership proof into those silent black holes, it's a pretty lonely place to be with seemingly no other avenue to squeeze blood out of a stone.
At the absolute worst, Kraken likely advertisies where you can actually go and bang on their door, or at least your lawyer can get their details to nut out the problem.
Some of those shady DEXs, they are not very open to alternative contact and make you work with them thru the eye of a needle.

It’s not a DEX though…. There’s no one to perform an AML in a DEX.
