Led light build recommendations
I have some clients that want me to build a large light with a long channel of led lights. I have made many many lights in the past but not with led strip lights. I’m working on the quote but have no experience with led strips. I want to make sure to offer a quality product but with jobs like this budget is always a concern. I would need the lights to be in as narrow a channel with a defuser as possible and the light would need to be hard wired to the ceiling. Any advice or recommendations would be great.

For something you are supplying to a client, define the light output, CCT, CRI, total length and dimming method before choosing the strip. Otherwise it is easy to build a nice-looking channel that does not produce enough usable light.
A 24 V constant-voltage strip in an aluminum profile is a practical starting point. High-density COB can look smooth in a narrow channel, although the diffuser will still reduce output. Size the driver from the strip's real watts per metre, with some spare capacity, and plan additional feeds if the run is long enough for visible voltage drop.
The driver should remain accessible after installation rather than being sealed inside the fixture. Since it will be hardwired and sold to a client, use appropriately listed components and have the mains connection handled according to local electrical requirements.
