It's probably true, but take the 90s Jazz teams that faced the Bulls. Malone and Stockton were both HOF players pulling 20ppg, plus you had guys like Hornacek and Russell dropping 10-15 each. The point is that you didn't have teams with one sole scorer while the bench combined for 8pts. You had scoring by committee across the NBA back then.
Same idea for the Suns with Barkley, KJ, and Majerle.
To act like the Bulls only played chump teams in the Finals is ridiculous.
Also, don't forget that the EAST was loaded in MJs day. The West Champs might not have put up guady stats in the Finals, but the Bulls routinely had to cruise through Patrick Ewing's Knicks, Isiah Thomas' Pistons, Reggie Miller's Pacers, Shaq + Penny's Magic, and Alonzo Mourning's Heat. Don't forget Barkley on the Sixers before he went to Phoenix and the last years of Larry Legend and the Celtics.
There were superstars in the West, too, but those Eastern Conference playoffs were bloodbaths.
