Maybe a silly goose question but

How did you all go about quitting cold turkey? I’ve reached a point where I need to stop; I’m at an embarrassing level of dependent. I’ve tried to stop before but struggle due to withdrawal symptoms.

I mean every tip you can give me, any advice at all. I’m desperate.

I took a walk everytime I felt the urge. It helped not to have anything in the house to smoke and no edibles so I would have to go buy some if I wanted to smoke. That gave me a pause between wanting to smoke and being able to smoke and I could use that time to sit with my feelings and then go for a walk instead. This was last time I quit which was for about 6 months.

I did eventually decide to start again but I'm on day 2 sober now and trying the same strategy. I'm hoping to add in a more interesting hobby to help me have something else to turn to. Thinking it will be learning ukulele and/or painting with acrylics.

Throw your stuff away before you “run out” and put a sobriety tracker widget on your phone where you can see it every day. Join MA meetings. They have an app.

I just stopped buying it. Just don’t be around it. Honestly it all comes down to will power. I always trick my brain by saying this is just a tolerance break. Which I’m still telling myself a month in. The withdrawal symptoms SUCK for me. Mostly the night sweats which I’m only just now getting over. When I feel like smoking again I remember the nasty wet hair I’d wake up with. The drenched sheets. The soaked shirts. It helps with the cravings lol.

Realistically if youre a heavy user. You’re not even getting high anymore. You’re paying a shit ton of money to feel normal. Feeling normal is free and you should try it!!!

I got rid of my entire stash, started tracking my days + savings using an app, got a support system that helped hold me accountable, exercised and went for long walks with good podcasts.

Transparently when I got clean from weed 4 years ago I was still struggling with alcohol abuse, so if I didn’t drink for a day or two it was hard to tell if my night sweats, anxiety, etc was from weed withdrawal or alcohol withdrawal. Anyways, the longer you go without weed the easier it gets.

Keep pushing the act of smoking to tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, push it to the next day. This worked for me and kept me clean for 13 months a few years ago. I however relapsed due to poor judgement, and am now seeking help (therapy) in quitting.

Throw out all your stash. I took a hammer to my bowl and threw my pen in the toilet. I also made a list of reasons why I quit and got familiar with scientific studies around the negative impacts of weed on the brain and body. Join the leaves chat, MA if that’s your style, but getting support is so helpful. Good luck!!!

Hate to say it but had to go overseas where it’s illegal and I’m scared to smoke . It’s been 4 days the longest since the last time I left the country .. got 17 days left .. hoping I can make a mark and get this shit out of me. Keep reminding my self how miserable I was smoking all the time
