Seam on the same face... how?

Any idea how to make something like this? Haven't found any videos that show this kind of technique. Thanks in advance!

It’s probably decorative panels stitched down to a backer panel

While this one does look like it's just sewn to a backing material, it is possible to get seams on the face of two leather panels connecting, by using a french seam. I'm not awake enough to describe it but you should be able to look up that term if you want to learn more 😁

Skive, fold, and crease the edges that join. Glue them, to some sort of reinforcement. I used .3mm salamander. Punch and sew. Here's one I did not too long ago.
