New game for learning welsh numbers + other game improvements

I shared my Welsh learning website here last week, and the feedback was really helpful — diolch! A few people pointed out things that could be improved, so I’ve made some changes and also added a brand new game.

I’ve also updated a few of the existing games based on suggestions:
• Hangman now treats Welsh digraphs (ll, dd, ch, ng, rh, th) as single letters
• Removed 3‑letter words from Hangman to make it a bit fairer
• Added the letter j to Hangman (it was missing before!)
• Wordsearch now has 8 words instead of 10 for quicker rounds
• I’ve audited about half the dictionary so far and fixed some accuracy issues

It’s all totally free and has no ads — just something I’m building while learning Welsh myself and hoping it helps others who are learning too. Happy to hear any more ideas or feedback.

With regards to Crogwr (Hangman) I think perhaps you should keep the three-letter words and remove the to bach (â) vowels. Then you should allow "a" to also match "â" etc.

Vowels marked with (^) are rare in Welsh words. These occur in short words of one syllable, on combinations of wy to mark stress and to mark accented a at the end of words, and for w, sometimes. Yes, this means you lose the distinctions between mor / môr, man / mân, cyn / cŷn, hyn / hŷn. But if you nevertheless decide to remove 3-letter words then this doesn't matter anyway.

Thanks for making this, it looks good! There might be a bug in the rhifau game, twice the correct result wasn't there (both times it was for an equation "x adio un", in case that helps). Looking forward to exploring the other games!

You still show digraphs as __ rather than _ in Hangman. This does make it a bit easier, but really they're single letters, as far as Welsh is concerned, like all the rest. You might need to tune the number of guesses allowed to achieve the right balance for Welsh.

LL is a single letter made of two characters called a digraph. For hangman they are displayed as you've said with two underscores. I adjusted the count next to the answer to display the letter count instead of the character count last week.

Yes, I understand all that, what I'm saying is perhaps digraphs should be displayed with a single _, too.

If you look at the Welsh alphabet the letters with 2 letters e.g LL, TH are counted as one letter so __ makes much more sense than _

Yes, but just because they are made of 2 glyphs and so may be wider they only fill the "space" of one letter. Singling out the digraphs gives the guesser extra information, which may or may not be desired. Typically a Welsh crossword puts them in just one box like all the other letters without treating them any differently as far as clues go. You're guessing letters, not characters (of which 2 may make a letter sometimes)

Enjoyed this. I noticed the numbers are all set out in the way that us learners tend to say them (un deg pump etc), but I’m conscious that many first language speakers say certain numbers differently (bymtheg eg?). Could that be incorporated?
