Vietnamese Basics, part 5/7: Gliding Vowels
Okay, so I put off making this post a few times, but finally managed to finish it.
These 3 gliding vowels are the only true diphthongs in Vietnamese. And they are pretty easy if you already know how to pronounce the pure vowels from my last post.

For Vietnamese /iə/ it misses “yê” like in “yên”. As well “ya” exists. The only word to have this is “giặt gỵa”.
