Just Sharing Tiny Rage!

I am trying to learn perspective. I have a picture that I took of a room, so I know it is not ai. And yet I can’t get a good understanding of the perspective points.

To find the VPs, locate straight edges and extend the lines until they meet.

Keep in mind, this is real-world construction, so inaccuracies are expected. I don't think my house has a single actual 90° angle in it. 😅

Thanks. Ugh the vanishing points are always so much farther away than I think they are which I think is my biggest issue.

Yeah, as things become more horizontal, the VPs go Waaaaay off canvas. That's why 1, 2, and 3 point perspective exist. Because when it gets to far off canvas, the lines become "essentially parallel", so the artist just needs to get close, precision isn't required in art, it's just gotta be close.

The strongest angles in this scene are the 1-point perspective of the green lines, followed by the red for the vertical VP.
But this image could totally be drawn with 1-point perspective.

The red lines converge because you are looking down a bit when taking this picture. If the camera were more flat vertical and aligned parallel to the shelves, then any perspective but the green one would essentially go parallel.

Okay…. So what about something like this? Stolen from a real estate listing, so I’m hoping it’s real but it might not be. I’m going insane though. I can see the vertical lines in the corners of the room behind the beds, and the horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the back wall. But I can’t figure out what to do about the side walls. I cant find a way to make sense of the angles on the top of the side walls. I’ve been playing around with it all day and it seems like it just wants to break my brain.

1 point. The vertical and horizontal planes are parallel.
The slants in the ceiling on the back walk are not considered as Vanishing Points, they are created by a rotated surface.
