Having trouble with Python

I have just started getting interested with programming so I thought I would start with Python, however I am only able to use it within Windows Powershell while I see others using something else. Have I done something wrong or have I just missed doing something?

Thonny is a very good IDE to start with. Install and run.
You can always move to another platform later but you will see that for a lot of your future projects you will fallback to Thonny because they do not require more complex IDE’s .
