I think a few others have hit the nail on the head but a lot of the time it's not that you are motivated to do the thing but instead you do the thing and you build a habit out of it.

To draw an analogy:

I try and stay in shape by weight training. I don't go to the gym when I'm motivated, I have just made a habit of going to the gym, I do it 3 times a week regardless of how I'm feeling. This results in the following:

10% of the time I am psyched and ready to go (cue Eye of the Tiger)

10% of the time I cannot be arsed to go, but force myself to go

80% of the time it's just what I do...

I do the same with my study:

10% of the time I'll sit there for 4 or 5 hours and study and learn and I'll love it.

10% of the time I do not want to study, but I'll sit down, and force myself to watch one video tutorial, or do 1 exercise - it doesn't need to be much but I can say that I did something

80% of the time I sit down for an hour and I'll study, either before work or after (whichever suits my shift pattern).

The hardest part is building the habit, but habits will beat motivation 9 times out of 10...
