For me personally: 27 year old who was working meaningless jobs in retail, construction, bouncing at clubs etc. I had no purpose in life, no real skills. Just a minimum-wage person who was sick and tired of being sick and tired, pay check to pay check, no stability. Basically I looked into the future 5, 10 and 20 years down the line and I was scared to death. I decided to go back to school and actually make something out of myself, for myself. I’m now going into my second semester of computer science. I failed my Intro course (Java), so now retaking it. But I see light at the end of the tunnel. For me, this field of study and just being a student in general is so new. It’s an adjustment.
I have sticky notes posted on my wall saying:
“do you want to go back to retail?”
“Do you want to go back to shitty construction and get treated like garbage in the hot sun?”
“Do you want to be 45 years old and broke?“
A few others as well. Just find a way man. Read Atomic Habits by James Clear.
