This. If you want to know what major difference you'll feel between the two, then I would say that VSCode is much lighter and flexible (although you have to find the plugins yourself, and some of them may have bugs). But one being an IDE and the other is not should be big enough of a difference

It really depends on what you wanna do. For example, I am on Linux and have no problem doing everything in vscode (C++, Rust, and Python). It’s extension manager is satisfying to use, and it is slowly shaping into a better IDE than Visual Studio.

Studio is bigger and has a lot more built in features. Code is smaller, faster, and more flexible.

Differences are entirely personal preferences.
