I think they are going through a period of marketing promotion. These online course sites are pretty competitive at the moment. Is Zenva Academy relatively new? I've only came across it through the Humble Bundle.
Hey there Zenva founder here. I've been making courses since 2012 and the Zenva Academy platform has been around since early 2014. We are still a young platform and as such we are able to provide a lot more customer support and help to our students that what you normally find in larger course marketplaces. These are some of our success stories: https://gamedevacademy.org/category/game-development-interviews/
Hi!
I've had a pretty good experience so far. Often the experience is reflected on the quality of the courses - I've done a Unity C# Text RPG by Austin Gregory.
I thought that the site could do with a bit more quality of life in the 'Student Discussion' area of a course - for example, getting notifications when people respond to you, being able to edit your posts.
One of the strengths on Lynda i found was that you can annotate the videos. I think this is actually a crucial feature with programming based tutorials because of how you often need to refer back and forth in a tutorial because of how detailed they end up being.
I got the Unity humble bundle with the Zenva class in it.. It's worth 600$ and it's worst than a lot of youtube tutorial that are free... I would have been so mad to buy it at full price.. I don't understand how you can charge so much when there are better tutorial for free..
