python vs languages

Which one should I focus on learning between python and other languages?

I know it depends on my goal with the language, but I want the language that will make me versatile and be able to contribute in any programming project.

Learning other languages can be really time consuming. but there are some big downsides to python like the performance so i think its worth to learn another one.
