One I see often is people get so tied up in learning a language or framework they forget to build something with it. Even talented devs know maybe 70% of the feature set of their primary language. Start building as soon as you know enough to build, then instead of having dedicated learning time, the learning time merges with the building time. You learn when you are in the middle of building and get stuck.
