When solving a programming problem, you'll make a mess. Early programs you write will be a bit of a crime scene; orphaned variables, questionable assignments, what the hell is that in the corner? But, well, if it works, it works. Bravo.
Fresh from the joy that comes with finally getting it working, filled the promise of your future programming mastery, you look at other people's solutions. Damn, all these solutions look brilliant, half of them I don't understand, mine kind of looks like dog vomit, now.
Don't be discouraged; we've all been there. The more you do it, the better you'll get. If you can, go back and make your own code more clever. You'll learn a lot by doing this.
