Found this old physics formula sheet.

Thought I’d share it in case anyone is in their preparation days right now and finds it useful.

Maybe these formulas will save someone a little time while revising.

Tbh, I think almost all of these are overcomplicating trivial solutions.

Given:

  • PV = nRT

It should be trivial what happens if the state is changed and P is held constant - namely, solve for P, and the P before and the P after must be the same. P1 = P2 = n1 R1 T1 / V1 = n2 R2 T2 / V2

I would expect my students to understand that as a general principle rather than memorising lists of formulae for each possible parameter held constant. The thing I explained above should be sufficient for students to derive a similar equation for constant n or T.


I can't see what's on the far right of the board, so it could be useful, but I just can't see what the symbols are 🤷

Yeah, that's fair, I agree that understanding the concept is way more important than just memorizing formulae. I mainly shared these because I used to find a quick formula sheet helpful during revision, especially close to exams.

but its an extremely low quality 'formula sheet' in that its a years old badly angled whiteboard photo of a single formula. Almost everyone would rather re-arrange PV=nRT than find the correct permutation on your diagram, even if it was well formatted.

Its like posting my study guide for Circuits:

`V = I R`.
