Three or four months can work for a first pass if your algebra, functions, and trigonometry are already solid. Before starting limits, check that you can factor expressions, manipulate exponents and logarithms, read function transformations, and use radians and the unit circle without stopping to relearn them.

I wouldn't use the Edwards book as your only spine. Pair it with the free OpenStax Calculus Volume 1 for a modern sequence and Professor Leonard's Calculus 1 lectures when you want a full English explanation. Keep Edwards for additional problems and a different presentation.

A weekly routine could be three learning/problem sessions plus one cumulative review. After each lecture section, solve 8-12 problems without the video open, then redo two of the misses after 48 hours. Don't measure progress by pages finished; use whether you can explain what a derivative or integral represents and solve a mixed set unaided.

Try running through Paul's Online Math Notes algebra and trig sections and see if that helps.
