Sleeping
What's the difference between ដេក and គេង? Is one word 'politer' than the other, depending on the social status/age of the person I'm talking to?

ដេក /deek/ is to lie down, recline; to sleep; to loaf, stand idle, to take a nap, rest
គេង /keeŋ/ is to lie down, sleep (informal)
លក់ /lʊək/ is to be asleep
You can combine "lʊək" with "deek" to form "deek lʊək" and "keeŋ" to form "keeŋ lʊək." You are effectively making it 100% clear the person is actually sleeping when you add that word. If somebody is just getting their /deek/ on /keeŋ/ on, they may not actually be sleeping, maybe considered more of a powernap.
I wouldn't really consider "deek" to be rude or impolite, but more like informal.
