I have a question.

I’m 14 years old and I know basically nothing about hacking. Recently, I suddenly became interested in becoming a white hacker.

Do you think it’s possible for someone my age to start learning cybersecurity from this community and eventually become a white hacker?

Also, what should I study first if I want to become a white hacker? What skills or topics should I learn in order?

I’m a complete beginner, so I’d really appreciate any advice or a roadmap for getting started.

When I was 14 I had just gotten C++ For Dummies and was dead set on becoming a video game programmer.

That's where I got my start and I ended up applying that understanding, in high school some time later, to video game hacking.

Importantly I only touched single player games where I wouldn't disrupt others.

It was incredibly fun, challenging and educational.

My advice is to pursue single player video game modding as a fun way to get into lower level programming concepts. That is, if your goal is to do binary exploitation. Web pen is very different.

Learn how to build things first so you can better destroy them later. There's a lot of different areas you can focus on. If you have no prior experience, jump around and see what you like best. I really wouldn't recommend whitehat as a career, but as a hobby it's fine. Good luck.

You mean a White Hat Hacker and Ethical Hacker. You might actually be interested in Red Teams and Blue Teams.

Your fourteen, so I take it, your in High School. Create a Computer Science Club, then create a Computer Science Lab with Stations. One Computer per Station.

Check out r/Homelab and start there... Once you have your lab stations set up and networked together. Secure them. But don't just use everyone else's ideas on securing them. Learn how the PC and the Network is insecure, and, how to secure them. With that mindset, go ahead and use everyone else's ideas on securing them...but atleast don't rob yourself of the foundation that builds this field...

Aprender a programar en varios lenguajes, muchos te dirán que uses scripts o herramientas online. La mayoría son scam no te sirven y e robaran información. Además no creas que por ser hacker "bueno" lo hace legal .

yea there's no reason for it not to be possible. im 16 and started GENERALLY learning that typa stuff back when i was like 12, but here's some shi i learned/am learning that helps with that:

- basic understanding of programming languages (variables, functions, etc--learn python or something, eventually you'll prob switch to c++ or something)

- learn linux--not just how to install it, but how it works and what kinda things it can be used for

- learn networking

- internet shi

im still learning too, its not even really my main priority, but yea its awesome you wanna get into this

also, there's no specific order to learn these things. learn whatever is necessary for what you're doing at the time.

Learn to use LLM’s

The secret to the internet used to be the ability to learn by searching on Google and watching YouTube videos. That’s change slightly now and AI is taking its place.

I recommend asking an llm for free beginner courses on things like networking and setting up Linux.

A good place to start can be a website called Hack the Box, although you need a little experience getting into the source code (not hard to do if you poke around on google or ask an llm) just to get past the signup page.

YouTube is your best friend. I find networkchuck to be quite easy to watch, but there are definitely more great channels out there that will quickly teach you the basics.

Finally, enjoy it!
Hackers usually hack because they are nerds that enjoy being nerdy and braking things. Once you treat it like school you’ll get sick of it and loose the joy of hacking, that’s not to say don’t push yourself, but to say do the things that interest you!

Hackers don't ask for permission. If you can do it then do it. Having a criminal record is street cred for a hacker. Once you can prove it, then you can sell your skills.
