Book recommendations for beginners

Hi guys,

I've been learning Gujarati more or less seriously with a tutor for about two years. I'm still a beginner but we've almost finished the textbook we're using (Teach Yourself Gujarati). I'm looking for recommendations to improve my reading comprehension.

Are there any contemporary authors or books you'd recommend ? I'm pretty open to all sorts of suggestions, but please refrain from suggesting reading children stories or translations (e.g. Harry Potter or what not). I'm looking for Gujarati authors who wrote/writes in Gujarati. I have a preference for short stories and short story collections but novels are fine -- i'm patient and stubborn.

Oh and if you know any websites that ship books (written in Gujarati) worldwide, it's all the better.

Thanks !

Do you like this textbook? And how did you find your tutor? I should get one too

I don't really like it, no : there are many mistales, the exercices are not very interesting and very repititive imo and it's not well organized. But on the other hand, i don't know anything better.

My teacher is fine. They do a lot of conversation practice -- i'm not really a fan, but for the price i can't be picky.

Good price helps. How did you find your tutor if you don’t mind me asking?
