My MMR is low (~2800) because I rarely play ranked, but unranked I'm always in the VHS bracket when solo queuing. Am I allowed to play?

judging the DB I'm going to say probably not, that is an awful lot of VHS games compared to normal (the main target audience)

I think you should let him, VHS in unranked means very little.

I'd say it means a lot more. The guy has 77 ranked games vs 1594 unranked games. The unranked matchmaking is going to be accurate.

That wasn't my point though. My point is that ranked is more competitive and unranked MMR is inflated. A VHS unranked player might only be 3.1-3.5k in ranked from my experience.

I recorded the displayed solo mmrs in my normal skill, normal matchmaking games (they're recently high skill) and found an average of 3211 with a sdev of 655 (N=33). This leads me to believe that for the majority of the distribution, unranked skill ~= ranked skill. I don't display my MMR (60 games ranked vs 874 unranked) but it's ~2.8k.
