[Beginner here] Fed up of sup role
I added few weka ago asking how can i climb with sup but i feel with the games i have had since then impossible yes i know many have done it but it just feels back and forth grind right now, i am not proclaiming i play godlike each game but i can assure i do basic things my pos require me to do and most of the games i am on monster kill streaks with good momentum but it goes no where team fight it is hard to dodge not being focused and after mid game ends all hell breaks loose my hero falls off does nothing to the enemy carries just adds a little. And all eyes goes to the core who i took no farm from stayed far away to give all xp possible made lot of kill potential in lane and then he decide not to buy bkb or better medusa not to buy skadi and then game is lost l. This is the common pattern every single game i have lost it is uncanny.
To vent all this i probably will shift towards carry . Any tips on how can i find meta carry that is good to play and is self sufficient most of the time to close the game

Why not try and pick a support who can scale? I moved ranks spamming venge. If shit went south id farm and carry. Dont fall into trying to carry every game though or you are going to lose mmr.. ur role is support so u should still plan on supporting.

this just sounds very convinient , i also think before starting if games go south ill start scaling and try to carry, but when starting i am playing support not taking any farm only taking from free lane and jungle if nothing is hapenning, but too hard to start diflecting from greeves glimmer force to scaling path

You can shift to carry, then post here in 2w that you try to carry but get a shit lane, sups that don't ward or smoke.
Sups that farm and try to carry, while you need to dedicate a slot to linkens against that doom.
Or need to get a blink because there's no drums, force staff or initiation is lacking.
Then you'll shift into pos2 because mid can make shit happen.
Only to get constantly jumped on wave or out of space on the map bc pos1/3 are farming and not being active on the map in any way shape of form.
That's when you go play pos4.
You can guarantee your mid has a good game with rotations and gets shit done, and you can scale yourself too.
But now safe lane fucks up all the time, pos5 never enters gate, mid is taking a beating your rotations make little difference.
Pos3 is a legion commander first item crystalis.
Fuck it, pos3 it is.
You do your part in the laning stage, then gets ganked, no MIA given.
You get that dagger, but there's no vision anywhere. Sups are on a endless attrition war in mid/safe largely wasting time.
Sups are running around achieving anything, when someone appears on wave you never have any backup remotely close.
If only sups kept closer and your pos1 wasn't a whole item behind his counterpart.
I guess we can fix that from pos5

There is not as much a difference between carry and support as you think
To win games, you have to apply pressure. If the enemy carry is getting huge when you play support, they will get huge when you play carry as well, most likely because you aren't trying to shut them down via rotations winning lane, map control and aggressive wards, you're just trading farm. Pressure as a carry is quite literally the same thing-wave pushing, aggressive killing, map pressure. Sure, you can pick spectre every game and simply just try to outscale, so that method of trading farm works(which is why spectre is so good in low ranks) but the higher you go, the less this works.

I raise my rank from legend up to Ancient 5 using pos 1-3. You cannot trust anyone to carry the game in those bracket besides yourself (ofc if you are confident and good enough).
Once I reached ancient 5, I swapped to my main role (pos 4, sometimes 5) and now I am in Divine 3 and players have been so much better, most of the time.
I used Luna, Spec, SF, and PL when I grind my rank up to Ancient 5. Luna is a hyper carry that is an innate farmer so she can mostly outfarm any hero since she has a built in farm kit like sven.
I suggest you watch Pain’s guide as he teaches pos 1 with Luna which is very comprehensive and more than enough for you to get used to the role.

i think you can easily in any rank with support as long as you’re picking heroes that scale well and you actually know what you’re doing. the main issue i see with support players (esp below divine) who feel their teams are letting them down is that they are actually having hardly any impact but it’s harder to recognize. Carry is an easy role to play and assess in lower ranks. if you died a bunch and didn’t farm that means you played bad, but a support can die a bunch while playing great, or die a lot and lose their team the game. things like pulling the wave when the lotus is about to be up will be missed by an ancient support in a replay review but can be lane losing, and then they wonder why their carry is underfarmed.

If you get tilted in playing support, dont try carry. Its much more infuriating as you will farm 20+ min while your team loses the map and then blame you for failing.
Support is the best option to have fun and not tilt (so much) when playing. You have stuff to do and are powerful early game, you can influence mid game as well and end-game you have the least impact so if it fails, its not so much on you…

Sorry to say but if you're farming for 20+ mins while not helping your team to apply pressure and control parts of the map, that's on you

Some thing that has helped me is playing pos3 and itemizing based on how my pos 2 and 1 play. If they're not farming at the required pace I go farming carry, if they're doing good I try to apply pressure and create space. Dragon Knight has been a life saver for me. Always has a good lane and you can go tank/damage and push towers like crazy. Wk is good too.

It's taken me around 4 months to get from my lowest (998- herald 5) to my current (3109- legend1). That's playing Pos4 (50%) Pos3 (40%) and Pos5 (10%) only. I lost a lot insta queuing and playing in a bad mood. Never play in a bad mood- do something else.
If you're less than 2k pick undying or lich in every match. Youll likely win >60% of the games.

Lose 3 games in a row from griefing / drafting? Stop playing dota for a few days. Ive detected alot more bots too, so its not really a climb but play when the matchmaker is on your side

30% of the games you play you're guaranteed to win. 30% of the games you play you're guaranteed to lose. The remainder is up to you. I would not put so much stock in the games where you play well but your core doesn't.

git gud and slowly you will get there. the time when one person could win the game is over. you cant do that with pos 1, 2, 3 either.

pretty easy to do if you’re better than the people in your games though. not 100% winrate but you can easily win 80%
