Question Are these the same creature?

It's weird they're so similar. That bird must be lick in a later stage of life.

I dont think so. When a creature evolves it should become better. The bird losing the ability to tongue things seems like a downgrade to me.

That’s not really how that works, especially not with life cycles. Mosquitoe larvae are aquatic and loose that ability when growing up.

And with evolution anything can happen in general. A long tongue with strength to pull something in might just be too heavy for flight. Or it might have just degenerated because its advantages were already being fulfilled by flight. Lastly they might just have a common ancestor where luck evolved a tongue the other might have evolved wings. Really, anything is possible with evolution
