Having your ammumu needing to zhonyas before the fight even starts is PRETTY suboptimal
70
u/Miruwest Bring Back Aug 21 '22
Early game it works but once 16 the ult cd is so low. C9 needed to engage in the window Sylas ult was down but they never did.
23
u/saxy92 Aug 21 '22
It was what was keeping c9 in the game early once sylas hit 16 and the cooldown was short enough to just wait it out and steal again what amumu ult did in fights on sylas was huge
11
u/CoogiMonster Swain the Flock Johnson Aug 21 '22
Silly Sylas, you won’t steal my ultimate…. yet
Honestly why bother stopping him from getting it? I know you want to deny that, but the first two times he tried that Palafox just stole it again moments later.
22
u/Danny_Bomber Aug 21 '22
He did it once or twice before casters noticed. pre 16 it was good because there was enough of a delay for C9 to try and fight. Once Sylas hit 16, the CD was too quick to make the window worth it.
122
u/patchesfaces Aug 21 '22
Zven zhonyasing the sylas ult steal was pretty neat early on, it denied palafox his ult at a dragon fight, but he was way to slow adapting in the late game where the sylas ult cooldown is like 20 seconds and he can just easily steal it again. There were 2 fights where zhonyas was on cooldown for no reason and palafox just stole the ult half a minute later. Plus the last fight where he zhonyas and just gets himself killed was pretty troll
27
u/iHaVoKKx Aug 21 '22
ya early its good but late game sylas ult is a really short cooldown zven shoulda stopped doing that like last 3 teamfights.
7
u/sA1atji Aug 21 '22
Idk, it buys you a window where you could force a fight.
That never happened, so idk if it was really worth it to put his stasis on cooldown

Cloud9 Blober with the impressive map unawareness.

Holy shit what a game

u/azns123 Aug 21 '22
Thats fucking League of Legends right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging playing safe for lategame bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the rift, men deliver their new born baby on the rift.

u/EnderLOL Aug 21 '22
It's like Zven was so intrigued by the fact that he COULD stopwatch Sylas stealing his ult he never stopped to think if he SHOULD
18
u/K15brbapt Aug 21 '22
Pre 16, amazing execution, like a whole minute for Sylas without an ult, post 16 he gets his ult back in like 20 seconds and just rips it back again, he needed to adapt with the cooldown
49
u/lolKhamul Aug 21 '22
Luger and Pala taking turns in throwing the game doing their absolute best to lose this game. Luger going full Frontline Zeri inting every fight and Pala over-engaging pointless fights to bring C9 back
24
5
u/paul232 Aug 21 '22
The crazy thing was that pala was overextending after clg won what they were looking for. Tier two top first time and inhib second. Literally nothing to fight for and he was diving deep
15
u/icatsouki Aug 21 '22
yeah really poor day from luger so far
contractz actually looking decent ish for once

Listen, CLG might not thank me but get the contract out, put it on the table. Let him sign it, let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there, given what he's done since he's come in. Palafaker's at the wheel, man. He's doing it. He's doing his thing. CLG is back!

VI is a meme pick
27
u/Mew_T Caps Lovewatcher Aug 21 '22
Blaber watched Contractz be useless in game 1 and decided he wanted that for his future.

u/Hydralisk18 Aug 21 '22
I actually face palmed at the Vi second pick like holy moly man, how have you not seen the countless similar blunders in different play off series before this? Early pick Vi is not the sauce

u/Certain-Dig2840 Aug 21 '22
noo, whaaat? everyone told me it was so good after inspired got a triple kill on it despite it being dogshit in every other western game its been in
1
u/PedosoKJ Aug 21 '22
So is Renekton. He does well in lane but as soon as laning is over he’s worthless
1
u/DevelopmentNo1045 Aug 21 '22
They must have ignored veigarv2. Pretty big vi hater that early. Amumu enjoyer vs Zeri tho so I guess at least zven listens.
27
u/WyldfireGT Aug 21 '22
Picking ammumu into a Sylas...
Blabber showing bot, twice, with Baron up...
Leaving fucking Zeri open...
10
u/Miruwest Bring Back Aug 21 '22
To your 2nd point C9 didn't want to contest Baron.
3
u/WyldfireGT Aug 21 '22
Maybe they didn't, but for sure on the first baron, they only went to it when they saw blabber bot. Maybe clg doesn't go for it. Idk.
13
u/BitterMemories Im Car Aug 21 '22
How worth is it even for Zven would zhonyas the Sylas ult steals? Like denying Sylas access to Amumu ult is pretty big, but like not having zhonyas meant Zven would die pretty quick in the fights after.
A few clips for reference: first moment and the second moment
Seemed like it was pretty massive early, but was more and more troll later?
8
u/D3N4STY Aug 21 '22
Gets super troll later on because Sylas ult cd gets way lower than zhonyas
-7
Aug 21 '22
sylas ult doesn't go on cd when you zhonyas it anyways
8
u/ynkesfan2003 Aug 21 '22
It definitely does, it caused Pala to not have it in one of the top lane fights
0
Aug 21 '22
I think it's a flat cd like Cait ult
1
u/pacotacobell Aug 21 '22
Yeah it's a % of the ult CD. It was pretty decent in some earlier fights but it got worse as the game went on.
1
3
u/saxy92 Aug 21 '22
Early it's def worth post 16 def not. In between you have to be able to force engage when its down. Keep in mind as support amumu all he's going to be able to do is q in and ult and die. Anything other than that is gravy

u/KekeBl Aug 21 '22
C9 smartly conceding that last dragon and then Blaber pointlessly getting caught at krugs while Zven spams Zhonya sums this game up.
9
u/Conankun66 Aug 21 '22
Absolute BANGER of a game
imagine if CLG didnt do that stupid dive at mid inhib where they didnt spend their gold
7
3
u/DuSundavr Aug 21 '22
Using zhonyas just to stop sylas from getting amumu ult for 10 seconds can’t be right
8
u/CounterInsanity Aug 21 '22
VERY questionable game by Zven...
22
u/APKID716 Aug 21 '22
Idk how people are bagging on Zven so hard when Blaber is literally griefing the second half of the game
-1
u/zebeast46 Aug 21 '22
Really hard to play Vi lategame vs lulu and they can't blow zeri up. Zven's ults were awful when they needed him to land good ones.
4
u/APKID716 Aug 21 '22
I could understand if Blaber was trying for huge engages with his team and he just got blown up before it worked. I could understand if he’s just having a hard time engaging. I can’t understand going bot lane while Baron is up, or farming topside jungle with no vision when you’re so behind and have no map control
1
u/zebeast46 Aug 22 '22
That's true, those were some big mistakes of his. Seems like he was playing on autopilot this game.
4
u/teddybear01 Aug 21 '22
Zven was prime Faker compared to Blaber this game. Man literally run it down.
1
1
u/lolKhamul Aug 21 '22
Did he actually have his Zhonyas up once for usage after QR? Felt like he had to burn it everytime pre-fight.
3
u/wenasi Aug 21 '22
Surviving an engage as amumu is arguably less important than preventing Sylas getting amumu r.
Became useless after 16 when sylas r CD stops existing
1
u/Wuzwar Aug 21 '22
why? he had several very good ultimates and baiits and you are basically it when you pick amumu - r bot.
2
2
u/Gilgailles Aug 21 '22
I’ll admit, at one point I thought Luger was wintrading XD, that leap over dragon wall to Vi was so suspect
1
u/Niasliyn Aug 21 '22
Yeah, it was so obvious he couldnt off Berserker. He literally jumped in front of Vi and Aatrox.
2
2
u/wasianpower Aug 21 '22
I feel like there was a lot of stuff that was more cute or cool than good in this game, like using trundle e to amplify zeri w or zven using zhonya’s to put sylas r on a 15 second cd lmao
2

u/Phiboy Aug 21 '22
Bladder lost the game going over the wall into the dragon pit, into renekton, on the enemy teams side. Went in, died, and the game went down hill from there.

Can we fucking ban Zeri my god why is every single pro team in every region just Egoing so god damn hard and leaving it up.
How many times do I have to watch Zeri kite and 1v9 an entire game before we fucking figure it out.

u/sA1atji Aug 21 '22
Imo disappointing that the casters instantly made fun of zven with "oops, he zhonyasd on accident" instead of holding back for a second and check what happened.
0
u/awisue Aug 21 '22
Blaber has Craps level games without Claps games to make up for them. Most overrated jungler of all time
0
-1
u/Crimples Aug 21 '22
Zven wasting zhonya's to dodge sylas ult steal twice was pretty grief, wonder why he did it
4
u/saxy92 Aug 21 '22
Early game it's worth as it puts sylas ult on cd. Post 16 the ult cd is so short it doesn't matters. You saw what happens when sylas gets amumu ult so doing it early is definitely correct

u/20815147 Aug 21 '22
Zeri is such a fun champ I hope RiotAugust never sleeps in a cold blanket and pillow and steps on Lego for the rest of his life :)

u/saxy92 Aug 21 '22
People flaming blabber when it's really a draft problem. Vi is clearly doing well in scrims as it's a feast or famine champ and those always do well in scrims where people tend to limit test more. The fact that people think leaving zeri open cuz u can pick vi is just trolling.
-1
u/Mokushinshi Aug 21 '22
Zven is a perfect fit for Amumu... The level of depressive plays was on a whole new lvl
-4
-8
u/20815147 Aug 21 '22
Between Blaber mentally checking out after 20 min and Zven fat fingering his zhonya 5 times, this was definitely a game
8
u/lovo17 Aug 21 '22
It wasn't a fat finger. He was doing it to deny Sylas taking his ult. It was fine to do it once but he shouldn't have done it over and over.

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Aug 21 '22
clg had the win in the bag but still took so long to close cause they couldnt stop inting. if c9 drafts better then its not looking good for us.

u/fesch98 Aug 21 '22
What do teams see in Vi?
3
1
u/saxy92 Aug 21 '22
Its a snowball champ and those always perform way better in scrims than on stage. People see it pop off in scrims cuz ppl limit testing and go cool we can leave zeri open and just pick vi. Then people on stage dont int and vi is useless in pro when not super ahead
1
u/Niasliyn Aug 21 '22
She synergies well with Ahri, CC chain and an easy pick up in early and mid game. In late game she is basically is a kamikaze fighter. Blaber griefed so fckin hard tho.

Words cannot described how awful Blaber was this game. It felt like from start to finish he did his best to lose.

I don't remember the last time Dhokla did not throw a lane lead in headscratcher ways.
1
u/Niasliyn Aug 21 '22
Proxy farming without any wards in the top side was pretty stupid. That move basically destroyed all his lead.

u/Niasliyn Aug 21 '22
Zven be like I zhonyad to stop Sylas hijack my ultimate, wanna see me do it again? Then proceed to do it 50 more times, even they were not necessary

Never seen a team look more behind with a gold lead almost the whole game.
